What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

Wish there was more interest in some of the rimfires. I have a Savage .17M2 bolt rifle and a Remington Model 591 in 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum. I've accumulated several thousand rounds of Hornady for the .17M2 and a paltry 1000 rounds of Aguila for the 5mm. Aguila had the most recent offering for 5mm in two 30 grain loadings, but not sure those loads will be re-run any time soon. I'd love to see CCI (and by manufacturing extension, Hornady) take an interest in loading it.

25-20 wcf. A really great small game round. Or to really resurrect something the 25 Stevens rimfire another great round on small game.

Don't forget the PO Ackley wildcats. I have a Mauser custom in 30-06 AI done in the late 60s-early 70s
in 30-06 Ackley. It will increase velocity of a 180 gr bullet to 300 H&H levels, while still allowing the parent 30-06 cartridge to be fired in the chamber-effective, while also creating AI brass.

I'd really prefer to see the 218 Bee, 256 Win Mag, 357 Bain & Davis, 480 Ruger for small stuff. I'd like to see the 358 Norma, 8mm Rem Mag, 25-35, 375 Winchester for the bigger stuff.

333 rimless and 333 flanged.
Easy to shoot caliber.
250 or 300gr
Std length bolt action and light rifles.
Second that

303 Savage and I’d bring back the original Savage rotary magazine Model 99 Take Down to go with it!
Those old 190gr 303 rounds made an impact back in the day and the Savage 99 is a true work of art!!!

I’ve got one of these in the safe that I’ve been considering selling

I guess those of us who have come to love the .450/400 are all partly responsible for bringing it back. It is one of those calibers that when you get to know it you wonder why it is not even more popular.

My grate nephew in-law work at a small gun shop they had a old 9x57 not the 9.3
He got it at good price with the idea of having it re barrel to 358w
I told him if he could find ammo I would give the 9x57 a try first
How's the great grandson liking the 9x57. I heard of a shop in Arizona that has original Kynoch 9x57 ammo verified good if he needs some food for it.

You know all these States have straight wall rifle seasons popping up now? And of course they keep making these new cartridges every year like 350 Legend, etc?

How about those old straight wall, really long German double rifle cartridges in 30-ish caliber? They would be far more powerful in a modern single shot like a Ruger #1 and would allow 300 yard accuracy for the States that forbid bottle neck cartridges.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
