We need more blue baggers

The Japanese soccer fans displayed their blue bags, with which they cleaned up the stadium and the restrooms out of respect and gratitude!! And they have been doing so for years. It will take a lot of blue bagging Americans to clean up our litter strewn streets. I think first we must educate our people to not throw it down in the first place, much less dump it wholesale beside roads and businesses.

One place that is way ahead of us there is Austria. In two weeks of extensive touring I saw a grand total of two pieces of litter ANYWHERE. Not along the rail tracks, not in towns, nowhere. One piece of plastic was stuck on a limb in a river, out beyond reach. Then ONE coffee cup was found set down and forgotten midway up the stairs to the Catholic Church in Hallstat. (Probably set there by a tourist) That's it. Mind boggling, but show it can be done. That's 1000 times less than I have seen in one half block section of Piedmont Dr. in Dallas where dumping got so bad that the city put up concrete roadblocks to curtail access to the favored dumping site.

There is a lesson somewhere there, and a shame on us.

Of course out in the bush one does not seen paper strewn in Africa--someone will grab it and use it to roll cigarettes, lol.

My wife said the same thing about a lack of litter when we were in Scotland a couple of years ago. Even in the US there seems to be a difference between states.

We stopped at a couple of rest areas in Montana and there was absolutely no trash anywhere and the restrooms were clean as could be.

I was laid over in Tokyo when returning from my tour in Korea. Tiger Airlines plane nearly crashed on landing when something failed in landing gear. We were put up in the Hilton which is/was way downtown right next to imperial gardens and palaces. I was stunned looking out of the charter bus window during the drive. Even tiny alleys were clean enough to perform surgery on the pavement. Beyond spotless.

Here I never bother taking poop bags with me when walking the dogs. All I need to do is look around for litter to scoop it up, usually a paper Tim Hortons coffee cup. Then toss it all down the nearest storm sewer. Then there's the old cougars walking their labradoodles who daintily bag up the dog shit ... and set the bag on side of sidewalk. I mean what the F*CK are you doing, lady? That shit will still be there in the bag two years from now! The idiots doing it are everywhere. And they really think they're being environmentally friendly. Green idiots.

My wife and I ALWAYS made the kids clean up after themselves when show was over at cinema. Always! I'm delighted my daughter has carried that message to her kids. My granddaughter is quite the tidy little stinker. She chews out litterbugs, usually bums of a certain ethic persuasion too drunk or drugged to pay any attention. Response is usually "Got any loose change, little girl?" Had to laugh at her reminding the meth head panhandling at the grocery store to brush her teeth ... the two that hadn't fallen out yet.

If you go to a place and look around, you get a good idea about the sorts of people who live there and what their priorities are. Last time I visited Portland, I was aghast. I’ve seen plenty of desperately poor places in this world, but I’ve never seen anything like that.

I was in South Dallas once at a gas station I probably shouldn’t have stopped at. The car at the pump in front of me took a ton of trash and threw it out on the ground, not a foot from the trash can.

The station had a full time porter/security guard who dutifully came and picked it all up. I asked if it upset him. He said it did for his first 3 weeks, but then he realized he wouldn’t have a job if everyone cleaned up after themselves.

I have read that when Christians have a concert or speaking event, that they keep the restrooms clean and very little left in the stadiums. BUT WHEN A METAL CONCERT is going on, there are broken mirrors, sinks and toilets, trash cans emptied and dented and graffiti on the restroom walls.

Apparently you are not referring to the Safari Club International Blue Bag program-which is a very cool system.
Speaking as someone who attends a lot of concerts and conferences (providing medical aid/part of my job) I can tell you honestly humans no matter the venue, are messy. (Nice way of saying it)
I was at an Iron Maiden concert where the crowd seemed a bit older and were infinitely more respectful than some of the younger based groups. Youth seems to show its ignorance and selfishness at large gathering events and alcohol tends to turn humans into a lower life form-
The Knicks parade today will need lots of your so called blue baggers!

The rest stops in Minnesota are tourist attractions! Beautiful landscaping, clean as a whistle, and the interpretive displays are top shelf.
