Hello Gents,

I am new to this forum however, I am currently planning my first safari. I will be going to Botswana for a 10 day plains game hunt and am planning on taking the 9.3x62 open sight 09 Argentine I made in gunsmithing school however I don’t have another suitable rifle with magnification so I am in the market for either a bansner ultimate rifle or Ed brown savannah. right hand in 300 win mag. Please PM me and let me know if anyone has one they would be willing to sell!

Thanks!

Excellent choices. Good luck finding one. I will check tomorrow to make sure I don’t have one. I have let friends borrow some over the years and they talk me out of them. Had an ultimate ovis in .300 WSM that a friend killed his Marco Polo with after he lost confidence in his Forbes. He liberated it from me after the hunt. :-). I know I have an Ed Brown in .280 AI and .340 Wby, I don’t think I have one in .300 anymore. Have a gap in Mark’s rifles as well. Fairly certain no remaining .300s. Step up to a .375 RUM and I’m your guy. :-). Bought it thinking it would be a one gun safari rifle, but then got hung up on wood.

Sounds like you know what you are looking for, but also be on the lookout for a very high quality rifle from a maker not well known out of the Pacific NW. (Arlington, Washington) Arnold Arms with their Apollo action. Not CRF like the 704, but solid guns. May be able to pick up a legendary arms works rifle, if you have time, and see how it shoots. Sounds like you have the skills to thread a new barrel if needed. Mark said most of the issues with their smaller caliber rifles were the barrels. I think you said they were Green Mountain ( green something anyways). :-). They used Douglas barrels on their dangerous game rifles a did not have issues.

Apologies for the ramble.

@RR 314 thank you for the information! I have never heard of Arnold Arms so I will be checking them out today!

Unfortunately I am pretty dead set on 300wm as I already have dies, and a ton of components for it.

Also unfortunately, I joined the Army shortly after graduating so I am not a gunsmith just went to school for it. Not sure I would spin a very good barrel at this moment in time

If you are willing to open your search to other brands, RedHawks Rifles and HS Precision are also brands equal to Ed Brown. I have the exact Ed Brown you are searching for that I bought from my deer hunting partner, and I have also been able to shoot his Redhawk and HS Precision rifles - I’m impressed with them too. They are both a little lighter than the Savannah and equally as accurate.

I am looking at HS Precision as well, I was not aware they made hunting rifles until yesterday but I am definitely interested in them as well! I will have to look into redhawk rifles. Thank you!

There may not be a single Arnold Arms on the market today. Then again,,there may one out there a .300 WM was a common chambering. I just looked and do not have a .300 WM on 704 actions. I did have a lightweight .375 H&H built on a 704 as I obviously like the action.

I have an Ed Brown custom built by Hill County Rifles with a Rimrock Stock and a Lilja light contour barrel.

It is chambered in 300 WSM.

Killed several bull elk and deer with it.

Basically the same size and weight as the Savanna but built on a short magnum action.

Good luck on your quest to find a Savanna rifle.

@RR 314 375 is something I am also considering since components for reloading are very accessible and I’ve read with 270gr bullets it works well for PG and heavy bullets for DG. Not sure how many years it will be before I am financially ready for a buffalo hunt but it’s on the list! One day! Mostly leaning towards a 300wm because it would be great for deer and elk as well.

You could have Hill Country build a custom with a Mcmillan stock and a top quality barrel on a Model 70 Winchester Action with a Timney trigger.

It would be practically identical to a Savannah in terms of performance in the field.

Or use any other action that you like. You could use a Remington 700 with a 3 position safety and a Sako Style extractor. That would make it a virtual clone of the Ed Brown 702 that my rifle uses.

Brown rifle is a LAW Big 5 in .375 H&H. They didn’t make many, and largely the same as current Bansner builds. I have seen ONE for sale on the secondary/used market.

Second on is .375 built on 704 action with Proof barrel, Echols stock etc.

Thanks. Just called and purchased it. :-). :-) :-)

I kid. I kid! Better jump on that one (and hope nobody else does)!

Caveat! Make sure seller is legit! Great price. Almost too great.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
