Handgun powders in my country have become increasingly difficult to source and as such I need to expand the range of powders I try. Recently one company has imported a shipment of Vectan powders. Primarily I need a powder suitable for hunting loads in the 454 Casull using a 300 grain projectile (Swift A-Frame, Hornady XTP mag, Sierra etc). Powders likely to achieve what I need are : BA 6 1/2 and SP3. Unfortunately the data published by Vectan only goes to 250 grain projectiles. Would appreciate any data people may have.

Contact Vectan directly, they have been helpful to me

I sent them an email a couple of weeks ago. No reply as yet. That was why I reached out to those forum members with experience in these powders. Normally I'd give them more time to respond, but the importers placed a 7 FEB deadline for orders.

Seems like their customer service is not what it used to be :E Shrug:

Sent them another email and they responded straight away with the data needed. Can't fault that for customer service. I suspect my first email probably 'fell off' the internet in transit.

Hello Hunter4752001,
possibly I answer a way to late... I use the Vectan SP3 in my Rossi R92 chambered in 454 casull with great success, especially with the 300gn HC GC bullets from my 20" barrel.
I load Starline brass and CCI450 primers.
You can use it, the powder is listed eg by 460 and 500 with heavy bullets by vectan. I think the sp3 is near to the imr4227.
Good luck, start low by 27gr and work slowly up. My go to load is 30,3gr with 300gr hardcast bullet, but each gun is different. So please work up your loads carefully. My load is not usable in weak actions!
Regards,
Z_Bee

You have the wrong person. I have no idea what you are talking about..

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
