Trophy room started

Looks great! Really enjoying seeing the room progress

Ugh! I just had an attack of jealousy! That’s going to be great! I really like the euros on the shield! Excellent idea! Oh and the barn doors are very handsome!

@Ridgewalker The barn doors are built from the beetle kill pine that I picked up the last time I was in Colorado. I am planning on building a pedestal for my wife's Black wildebeest coming in from last years safari from the same wood.

A pedestal out of that is going to be beautiful! Sad about all the trees being killed by beetles, but the wood from it is really nice!

Awesome, any way to pour a vault for a walk in gun safe? I put one in our retirement home, best design feature in the house!
That’s my next plan. Add on to the trophy room and add a vault. Just takes $$$
Best idea though.

Make sure everything has 3/4” plywood behind it. I missed this step in my lodge and it makes hanging heads difficult.

@Philip Glass I put the OSB that is made to hold screw well, behind the dry wall, based on many comments I read on others who built trophy rooms. and it is working like a champ.

Smart move!

Loving it all Dave! Did you build that wildebeest pedestal yourself? I have a stash of that old grey barn wood with varying amounts of red paint still showing, just waiting for the right project;)

@ActionBob yes i built the pedestal for the wildebeest and the Sable.. Planning on building a double pedestal for the Roan and waterbuck coming soon, and another for my wife's black wildebeest.
@steve ahrenberg I am down south close to Tombstone.

Sounds good. Like to near how you like it

Very nice! love the doors! That shield euro mount is awesome.

AZDAVE, I’m jealous! Looks beautiful.

@Philip Glass I read all the reviews of people that had built trophy rooms and talked with my contractor about 3/4 in plywood and he said that the OSB would hold everything I planned on putting up on the walls (He did say that is it was a shoulder mounted elephant I might want to make sure I also hit a stud) plus the OSB will save $$$. I have really enjoyed just putting in a screw and hanging the mounts. Right now the heaviest I have hung is a cape buff European mount and once I put it up I pulled down with about 50Lbs of force to make sure and no issues. Will be glad when last years taxidermy is complete and shipped here. So I would recommend that route.

Congrats on the room.

I don't think I would have bothered with the window between the kitchen and trophy room. The antis can still see the trophies.

Very nice room and very nice trophies!!! I really like the wood and the doors!!

We got an early Christmas present of our trophy's from last year being delivered last Thursday. Yesterday we put up the new mounts. I now need to get busy building a couple different pedestals, (A double for the Roan and waterbuck, one for the 3 springbuck, and one for the Black wildebeest) in addition end table and coffee table to go with the chairs ordered for the room. Didn't get a pic of the crate with my wife's croc in it.

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts

Hi PaulB,
I have a Ballard Arms Model 1885 chambered for .333 Jeffery Flanged. Do you have any idea where I can get ammo for this?

I am new to this forum so I am sorry if I am doing something wrong!
Thank You!
