Thoughts on this 375 H&H?

I'm new to the world of the .375 H&H and have a strong affection for Winchester Model 70 rifles, especially the pre-64 models. I've been hunting with a suppressor for years, and I can't imagine shooting or hunting without one. However, I find the idea of threading the barrel of a Model 70 in .375 H&H for a suppressor to be rather unappealing, as it doesn't seem fitting for those rifles.

Recently, I came across a Mauser DWM 1909 in .375 H&H and I'm looking for feedback and thoughts on it. It is already threaded and Since I know very little about Mausers or the .375 H&H cartridge, any insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Is it a good firearm? Is the price reasonable? Thank you in advance!

The lack of iron sights would nix it for me. I guess it depends on your intended use to some extent.

FWIW, I have a 1998 M70 Classic Super Express in 375 H&H that was threaded when I bought it recently. Does not concern me at all. But, then again, it's not a Pre64 either.

There are better options out there.

this is a military 98 action, original is standard length ( cut-out for loading strips on the left). It will have major modifications/lengthening of the action to fit a 375H&H, it was made for 8x57IS. Whether this is any good depends on the metallurgic skills of the gunsmith/welder. Also the action metal then needs to be quenched and tempered after welding.
This may or may not have been done well, impossible to judge from remote.
Buyer beware
I think there are better options for a 375 nowadays.

Do you run a suppressor on it?

That’s funny. I can’t imagine shooting or hunting with a suppressor. Not in this lifetime.

Haha, I hear you! I was in the same boat, and now I have four suppressors! It's amazing how different it is to be around suppressed firearms compared to unsuppressed ones. They’re also really helpful for protecting kids' ears, so I don't have to worry as much about hearing protection.

Get a new FN model 70 375 H&H and raw dog it.

I have suppressors on two AR platforms - one to repel boarders here on the ranch and one for dealing with pigs in the pecans and the corn with a thermal. I also have one of my R8's set up with one in 6.5x55 for backyard deer. But I can not imagine using one on dangerous game. If a full size rifle, it turns a great hunting firearm into a surf rod. I also want quick access to my iron sights for a follow-up in the thick stuff. A suppressor makes that impossible. No thanks.

Similar situation here…

I’ve got a pair of AR10’s set up with suppressors and thermals that my wife and I use for pig population control… and I started using a suppressor on my primary “deer” 308 bolt action a few seasons ago… shooting out a blind window from a rest negates the wonky balance created by attaching an extra pound out 6” in front of the muzzle..

And after the $200 tax stamp goes away in January I’ll probably buy a few more… I wouldn’t mind adding a can to a Ruger 10/22 that gets used for raccoons and other smaller corn thieves.. and my wife is now wanting a dedicated can for her 308 bolt gun (primary deer rifle)… and it’s probably a good idea to consider adding one to my little 10” barreled AR pistol that is set up for home defense…

I’m a big fan of suppressors…

But I’ve got no interest at all in adding one to any of my DG rifles..
