Think Big Game Think RIGBY

Is there any possibility of the Lightweight Big Game rifle in 375 H&H chambering?

I have asked before with mixed responses.
Hi there, there is a plan to make the Rigby Lightweight Big Game rifle available in 375 H&H next year. I don’t have a specific release date at the moment.

Then why can't Rigby respond to requests like the ones in the string above? At the risk of sounding rude; which I'm not trying to be in the slightest, this gives people like us the impression that Rigby appears to not be interested. I for one remain interested, if Rigby would build a left-hand PH model in 404 Jeffery that would take 3-4 years to build at the cost of 60k. I talked to a Rigby rep at this year's SCI convention and this is what he quoted. Far different than your catalog list price. If I'm waaay of base, please forgive me. I for one, still want a Rigby, but I'm one of those who just gave up.
Thank you for your continued interest! I previously responded to the questions about the availability of the 375H&H and 416 Rigby in the Lightweight Big Game model that were raised in the thread. Are these the questions you are referring to or another question that I may have missed?

Regarding your question about the 404 Jefferey, I can certainly check into whether a left-handed model is in the works.

The challenge with certain specific models is that there is not a large demand; however, as Rigby hears about increased requests for a certain model they do what they can to meet the demand.

John Rigby & Co. has rejoined forces with its old German partner, Mauser, to create this modern masterpiece.

History Repeated

A century and more ago, Mauser made barreled bolt-actions for us and shipped them to London, where they were assembled, finished and proofed by Rigby craftsmen. Today, in an echo of halcyon days before the Great War, we have resumed this arrangement with Mauser for our new range of Big Game rifles, making aspirational but affordable rifles for use around the world

In its plant in Isny, Mauser is again building its much-copied but never bettered original Magnum bolt action, which it originally created in 1899 specifically for John Rigby. Today, just as was done a century ago, barrelled actions are supplied by Mauser, then assembled into superb hand-finished rifles by master craftsmen at the Rigby workshop in London. Like the originals, these rifles carry London proof marks. Many aspects of the original rifle, including the much admired and copied extractor and the three-position flag safety, have been retained.

A Modern Classic

These outstanding rifles have classic Rigby design features, plus a robust, ergonomic stock shape with a higher comb for better fit and absorption of recoil. They also feature plasma nitriding on all exposed metal surfaces for a tough but attractive anti-glare and rust-resistant finish. The Rigby express sights have a single fixed V and two folding leaves (sighted for 65, 150 and 250 yards) dovetailed into the quarter-rib. With original pattern engraving, case-hardened recoil bars and a heat-blued extractor, these rifles represent exceptional value and are a benchmark in modern sporting firearms manufacturing.

Single or Double Square Bridge

The Big Game is available on a single or double square bridge action (depending on the model), and offers professional and sporting hunters a more moderately priced alternative to our London Best custom rifles.
The Single Square Bridge style is the Professional Hunter’s rifle of choice. Available in .416 and .450 Rigby calibres, it is designed for use with express sights only. The action is fitted with the classic three-position flag safety. Unloaded, the rifle weighs 10 pounds 8 ounces; the length of pull is 14 ½ inches, including a recoil pad.
The Double Square Bridge model is available in .375 H&H, .404 Jeffery, .416 Rigby, .450 Rigby and .458 Lott calibres. With its 24-inch barrel, this rifle is ideally suited for a telescopic sight. The horizontal Winchester-style safety catch accommodates a variety of scope-mounting systems on the machined action bridges. The weight of this rifle is 10 pounds, unloaded, and the length of pull, including the red rubber recoil pad, is 14½”.

Models

Due to popular demand, we have created three distinct editions within the Big Game range; the PH, the Big Game and the Big Game Lightweight. These are available in a selection of calibres, and can be upgraded and personalised as desired. Click on the models below or try our gun configurator to find out more. Please note that all prices shown are the UK RRP in Pounds Sterling (GBP). For recommended retail prices in other jurisdictions and currencies, please contact us.

Usd. But £10k for the big game rifle. Is $13,454.
Us website states $18,995 start price. Wich is a $5,500
Im assuming its most likely tarriff related. But if that is the case. Is there a way to purchase the rigby say somewhere else cheaper on way to safari and then import it as a used firearm to usa? Similar to how some auto makers years past used to have a setup like that?

they were a bit cheaper 4-5 years ago like everything else they have gone up tariffs or no tariff,, keep an eye out for deals on used ones MNR had 2 about a year ago like new sold around 13-14k

I know. But I would rather give rigby an extra 5k for their product than the tax man. 5k gets you alot more gun.

the prices have steadily risen .if you look at many of the custom makers for sale anything with a name is in the 15k and up area. , I got mine about 4 years ago from ralf martini who was selling it for a friend I got a great deal less than 9k usd like new with all the paperwork he had 2 one was with the scope mounts which I did not want I think he got another 1k for that im not sure if I,d want to pay more than 16k for the same rifle. there are some other choices out there tho not cheap .

Sure but they have 2x active advertised prices that are 5k usd apart. Thats not a issue of prices going up over time. For the same guns

The OPs ad was 3 days ago. If inflations so bad prices jump 5k in 3 days americas in for an economic world of hurt

I think it is spectacular that Rigby has a representative actively interacting with us on social media and demonstrating they are listening to what their customers desire!

Cheers to Franz for his timely interactions and efforts!

I don’t know about private sales abroad (but don’t see how there could be a distinction), but I know all foreign auction sales on USED modern foreign manufactured guns are assessed the tariff upon import to the US. It is having a big hit on foreign auctions—well, at least for those knowledgeable about the additional cost.

I think I figured out what happened with the discrepancy in pricing between the AH post and the website. The post that was used on AH was copied from an old post on the Rigby website which had pricing from a few years ago. I apologize for the confusion.

All good. There worth every penny. Just curious I was wondering do you offer fitting services for making a new rifle? And what is the barrel weight/ muzzle diameter on the 375hh on the light vs standard

WTH? Do you go to the Chevy dealership and ask for Ford engine? If you want a 404 Jeffery, I think there is a company that makes those. I think WJ Jeffery is making their 404 at the moment, and it’s not nearly as obtainable or accessible as a big game in 416. You’re disappointed that you can’t get a left hand rifle in a custom caliber/cartridge at off the rack prices?

I would have to check with the team in London regarding the barrel dimensions and can get back to you with what I find out.

I do know that authorized dealers here in the states can do a fitting for you, and some people have also gone to the London store to do a fitting for the rifles. Where are you located?

I appreciate the reasoning and the support.

I do want to mention that the standard Rigby Big Game is currently offered in the following calibers:

375H&H
404 Jeffery
416 Rigby
450 Rigby
458 Lott

Correspondingly, the Lightweight Big Game model is currently offered in the following calibers:

350 Magnum
300H&H

The plan is to also have the Lightweight model avaiable in 375H&H next year.

I am going to discuss all the other requests for certain left-hand models and calibers in the lightweight model with the team and will report back.

I imagine that there are some limitations on what size action can be safely and securely bedded in a lightweight stock. I also imagine that there is an overall demand threshold that is necessary for certain requested models to be financially feasible.

Nevertheless, I will check on all this and report back.

mayfair did make left hand actions ,waffen kesslerin does , I believe granite mountain does ,I doubt rigby will do it not profitable enough tho you may be able to supply them an action but expect it to be built as a best quality custom and about 50-60k , all I wanted was the original flat in front of the front ring of the 350 magnum added to the barrel everything else stays the same ,, yes we could do but it has to be done as a custom at about 50-60k
