The Return to ....

If there is no rush to the shot I am fine. Any type of pressure and that vertical cross hair just will not pass that front leg line.
Inbred meat hunting.
You would never want to waste that precious shoulder steak. :)
When we started butchering all our game I learned just how little meat there was there. I'm over the meat wasting. Now, onto the retraining.

Hunting elk taught me to use the shoulder shot because they never run uphill.

Which airline was this? Leaving in 2 weeks I don't want any more suprises.

Air Canada and Lufthansa require prior knowledge that you are taking firearms along.

In further preparation for the trip I managed to order some wine for the in between times. :)

Keeping it in AH family was the order of the day.
andriesdeklerk just happens to be able to address this requirement.

Home | Morgenhof Wine Estate

Looking forward to trying out his best.

Some Whites
Morgenhof Sauvignon Blanc 2012
On the nose one finds predominantly flavours of asparagus, green pepper and gooseberry. These flavours follow through onto a full palate with a clean mineral crispness that lingers delicately on aftertaste

Morgenhof Chenin Blanc 2011
A wonderful expression of citrus, lime and passion fruit flavours with a harmonious balance of French oak, this flows onto a creamy palate that finishes with a lingering freshness.

Morgenhof Chardonnay 2011
The nose is expressive of lime, kiwi and pineapple flavours. These tropical flavours follow through onto a crisp palate with subtle wood integration creating a rich lingering aftertaste.

and Red. (a case)
Morgenhof Estate 2005 (Bordeaux blend)
The Morgenhof Estate is the flagship wine, a classical
Bordeaux blend with a proven track record. The Morgenhof
Estate is a carefully blended wine with grapes coming from
only the best vineyards on the Estate. A barrel selection
is then made of the best wine for this top blend, aged in
French Oak for minimum of 18 months. An elegant wine to
savour now with food, or to put away for a while.

Really? no where on their sites does it say that. AC just said to allow 30mins earlier for firearms... Lufthansa says noting at all... frusterating to say the least. I am coming back on Luft, not going. Kind of hard to contact them from out in the bush.

Yup, it can be frustrating.

It's the Lufthansa Star Alliance part of it. The Germans want to know.
They have to have people on the ground to handle the firearms properly.

Air Canada, you can just show up. But, as a carrier for Lufthansa they want to have prior knowledge.

I just make the phone call.

In OR Tambo it is a little more informal.
One baggage handler whistles from the inside to the guy on the outside when a firearm comes through to the baggage conveyer.
You just show up.

On the way back I am not to worried. I'll just ask the SAA folks to advise them.

Well going there it is not a big problem, I'm AC or SAA. Coming back maybe the issue then, the flights are all Luft till Toronto, then ACC to Edmonton.

Decided it was time to get into shape for Africa.

I lit a fire in the fire pit, brought out some Guinness and a lawn chair and reading about tracking waiting for the sun to go down.

If I keep this up I should be in the best shape for Africa ever.

Just finished a nine hour Braai.

Everyone over, Boerewors and home brew and stories into the dark

Great practice.

Tomorrow is going to require a very long hike.

Working away from the machine all day.

Preparing to teach a Hunter Ed course to some rookies tomorrow.

Bought a .22 youth model today to help start them out.

Two brand new hunters successfully into the fold.

Passing the Hunter Ed Course with scores into the 90 to 95 percentile.
Awesome job.
You have to love it when students work hard enough to get such good scores on the tests.

Ready to enter the draws and start practicing shooting for the upcoming fall season.

Have to go out and do some more shooting practice on my own.
All these other members hitting the run way for Africa is starting to ramp up the excitement for sure.

Time for the final over night bookings into Windhoek for the in between day.
Starting the search here:
Londiningi, Guest house
Afrika Sun
Roof of Africa

Although Joe's Beer House is sounding a little commercial now. I may still just have to show up to do the tourist thing.
Joes Beerhouse

Got the news today.
The wine is on the way.

Love it when a plan comes together.

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
