The Central Savanna Buffalo can only be found in 3 countries: Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic (C.A.R).
You can find all type of horn and colors and also a big difference on body size from 450kg (992 lbs) - 700kg (1543 lbs).

This year we had some great pictures of them.

Which color is your favorite?

I like any of them where the main body color is red, with black accents. For horns, I like when the bulls horns sweep back like oversized forrest buff horns with a boss (i.e. #10)

That one in #14 look like a really nicely coloured bull

He looks good although he seems a little young. What do you think?
Yes is still young but have already quite big body and will take some darker color on the shoulder

Do the colour variations have to do with genetics from forest buffalo (red) and cape (black)? And do the different colours generally have different horn shapes?

The habitat is a big factor for the color and the size of the horn. Not always you can a black Buffalo with small horn and big body and next to him a red one with bigger horn but smaller body. Most of the time the black one have the biggest body

A very nice red Buffalo last juin

This past March I took a buffalo in Cameroon, I think it is called Western Savannah buffalo, what is the difference in that buffalo and the Central Savannah buffalo? This last picture posted looks a lot like the one I took in Cameroon. And what time of year do you hunt these buffalo? Thank you!!

I told my wife it was a once in a lifetime trip for me to hunt Cape buffalo last year. I am sure she will understand that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to fish and hunt savanna buffalo with you. I need to take her somewhere nice this year so I can book something maybe 2025…

Yes in Cameroon they are classified as Western Savanna. Normally Central Savanna Buffalo are normally bigger and taller the color quite the same. Also Rawland don't have the same system to measure them.

The client took this buffalo have hunted a lot in Cameroon and told me it was much bigger body than all the other one he killed in Cameroon.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
