Our season opened Saturday 9/27 (MLDP Conservation Option), we've been watching this deer since he was 2.5 and had 12 points. We all agreed to let him walk last year when he had 15 points. We held our breath all year knowing he was traveling to the neighbor to the north and east but luckily, he made it through the season. She's taken 5 deer but never a trophy buck. I told her older brother she was going to get the first shot this year and he understood. He had 13 points this year but put on a ton of mass and tine length compared to last year, ended up scoring 151" with 33 3/8" of mass. Was also the first deer she shot with the rifle I built for her birthday this past March.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

Beautiful deer!

Congratulations to the young lady!

And well done by her guide and rifle builder too.

Looking at the calendar, at first I thought I was going to read a behind a fence story. What a magnificent buck! Congrats to that young hunter. I would have guessed him at 160.

Bravo young lady and dad !
What a great way to start buck hunting

I’ll say she did good! Way to go, congratulations on a beautiful buck

FAR better than any buck Ive ever taken. Congrats to the young lady!

My place is MLDP as well.. just havent been able to get out there yet this year.. work is killing me right now.. but Im hoping to get out there soon..

We've got a couple of nice bucks running around this year.. but nothing like a 150... Id best guess our biggest to be a 140.. hes a 10 point from what I can tell on camera, but he has incredibly long (to the point of almost looking unnatural) tines for every point.. and we've got another 10 point that I'd best guess to be a 125-130 class deer.. all the other bucks we've seen running around are older basket racks, or young forky's.. we probably need to cull some of those old basket toters this year.. most are 3.5 - 4.5 years old at this point and I dont think they'll ever get any better.. and we definitely need to cull out several doe.. we've got a little less than 700 acres overall that we're hunting and have 5 blinds/feeders operational this year.. when doing our MLDP surveys we were seeing 20+ deer each night, only an hour after sunset.. Im guessing if we waited longer we would have seen many more... and we're counting at least 15-20 unique deer on the trail cams daily.. my best guess is we have 30-40 roaming the property daily along with the couple of dozen hogs we keep seeing..

What part of the state are you in? We're in Mills County; we usually do our surveys at the end of August. We start 40-50 mins after sunset... so just when it really gets dark. We're on about 1,000 acres we usually see between 50-70 deer and we normally have 50-75 individual bucks. We get a ton of tags every year cause none of our neighbor’s shoot does. We also feed about 40,000lbs of protein a year.

Congratulations!

Well done with a nice rifle to boot.

Nice, very nice rifle build in an often overlooked versatile caliber.....
