Target Height

My local rifle range is limited to 100 yds. I want to practice shooting at an object that is 500 yds. distant. Let's use for an example a full size antelope target at 3.5' x 4.5' at 100yds. What would be the equivalent target to emulate shooting at 500 yds?

I would AI that question. For example at my last big bore shoot on my land with our AH friends all my targets except my full size buff set at 50 yards was the same through your rifle scope as if he was at 100 yards

Divide dimensions by 5, that should be a simple calculation from 100 to 500 yards.

You could try groundhog or crow size targets at 100 yards. Are you shooting scoped or irons?

If you want to get comfortable shooting at smaller targets I’d turn the scope to its lowest setting. I’ve learned a lot shooting on lower power. Even though my brain isn’t confident, my eye knows where to go. My groups at high and low power are usually very similar. Unfortunately, you can make a target 1/5 the size but you can’t amplify trigger pull mistakes or follow through mistakes x5 to see what you could do at 500 yards. Also missing 400 yards of environmental conditions.
