    the real bummer is,

i don't think the lefty's that leave their "paradise" state when the taxes get too high understand that they bring their stupid ideas with them. If they did, they might consider before they start voting and ruining the state that they run to in order to get away from stupid, leftist ideas!

Its also a PITA to get to. Yeah, I know you can fly there or even drive there for most of it. But you still gotta get all your stuff there. I lived in Sitka a couple of times in the '60's and it was pretty neat. But my dad was a tugboat owner operator so we just loaded all of our stuff in a container, set it on his old 90' wood scow and towed it there, with this old (1916 built) 65' wood tug with a 200 HP Atlas diesel that was
    as big as a Inverness_tow.jpg
truck! Made my first trip to AK on it in '66. Dating myself.

If they were smart enough to figure that out, they wouldn't be lefties to start with! That's the problem!

It was something all right. That old boat was originally steam powered if you can believe that! The old Atlas in it required constant manual oiling of the exposed rocker arms and various other moving parts. They make the most wonderful sound, so much different than modern high speed diesels.
We moved the whole fam damily up to Sitka on her, and my poor little sister was seasick for most of the trip which took about over a week if I recall. Much later when I worked on modern multi thousand HP tugs we could drag two loaded freight barges from Seattle to Ketchikan in less than 3 days!

I was 12 on that trip. Lots of great memories from that summer we spent there. 2 years later we moved up there again for a year, went to HS there etc.

Man, that sucks. Idaho is/was on my short list. My beloved Texas is going to be blue by the time I retire, and probably sooner than that.

Say it ain’t so. Texas? What have I been missing? I thought Texas was ready to secede from the Union when Obama ruled the land.

Texans haven't changed, but we're getting too many people, too fast, that aren't becoming Texans and developing that "FU I can do it my own damned self" attitude that is a large part of what makes us who we are. Lots of people from the northeast, lots from Cali, and lots from south of the border. None of them knows the significance of 2 March 1836, and probably wouldn't give a shit, even if they were aware of it. Same kind of people who don't know what 19 April 1775 means, either.

I wasn't born here, but I got here as quick as I could (almost 30 years ago).

Not just Montana- also Colorado, Oregon & Washington State; then when Ore and WA got inflated property prices like Calif, the overflow sold and bought homes in Boise and Alaska. Sad thing is they are the political model that is corrupting the US- The immigrants, whether US citizens from another state or aliens from another country saturate the populace and elect similar minded and phenotype people to office to sway the laws and behaviors.

They are also labeled T(u)RDs, which is fairly accurate in my estimation.

I don't know much about them, but they are very popular. My brother has been driving one for years. They have a pretty fair rep I thought. I drive a Colorado Duramax.
