Swift Break away solid ammunation

Excellent for brain shots on even the largest African bull elephants from all angles. The bonded lead cored alloy jacketed design contributes to great structural integrity while also generating very less pressures in barrels. This bullet would be my first solid of choice, in an older rifle with a barrel hardness that ranks below 230 on the Vickers scale.

It’s a real shame that Swift practically never has them in stock.

Thank you for reply, I was lucky got one box for next month Elephant hunt.

Hear really good things about them in all calibers, I have them in 375, 410, 458, 470
loaded them in375H&H, 450-400, 458 Lott, 470NE. With just a small reduction in powder charge
they print where A-frames print even in my double rifles.
Only real world use I've had was on a buffalo the park ranger in Uganda asked me to finish a big buffalo that was dying from a snare injury, hit him twice at 25y. the A-Frame was perfect on the frontal shot and the double shoulder with the second shot broke both shoulders and exited out of a 450-400 d Heym. I'm not a big fan of solids on buffalo as A-frames are near perfect, but on Elephant I can't think of a better solution.

Looks like they are a copy of the Woodleigh Hydrostatic projectiles. My PH had the Woodleighs in 458 and used to stop a buff charge. Then projectile traversed the entire length of the buff and was recovered and base of tail. Ready to reload. Very impressive.

For anyone who has used them in a bolt action rifle, how do they feed compared to a regular flat pointed solid? I love the Cutting Edge Safari Solid in my 416 Hoffman, but have had some feeding problems when cycling the bolt rapidly. I really like the Cutting Edge solid but a concerned about using them again after feeding problems.

I’ve got both Swift Breakaway solids and Trophy Bonded Sledgehammer solids to try in my 416 but am curious if anyone has used them in a bolt gun, and if you have, how do they cycle? My understanding is that Swift designed the Breakaway solid specifically to feed better, while also penetrating well like a typical flat nose solid.

They cycle flawlessly. They have a synthetic cap on the bullet nose which assists the bullet in mimicking the traditional round nosed bullet profile that all magazine rifles properly feed.

That’s what I’m expecting. I’ve got some loaded and they seem to cycle well, but in the heat of the moment when cycling the bolt harder and faster I’m curious if they’ll cycle the same in that scenario.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
