SOUTH AFRICA: Has Anyone Hunted With Wiets Safaris?

I’m doing research on an African hunt and I can’t find any posts on Wiets Safaris in Kimberly, SA. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with them. The website is a bit sketchy but I don’t want to base my judgement solely on it.

I hunted with them in 1997. How they are still in business is beyond me. They own a large trucking business. Everything was drive around and shoot from truck. I would avoid unless that’s the experience you want!!

In todays information age if a business can't be bothered to maintain it's website, it is telling.

When the Google hunting link sends you to a trucking company website .....

There are plenty of hunting reports about positive experiences fellow AH members had with outfitters/PH's. I recommend reviewing them and selecting which outfitter best matches your desires and budget.

A bad outfitter won't survive around here...

I appreciate the honest feedback. I’ve searched the site a lot but all I’ve ever noticed were positive reports about outfitters. So the above is refreshingly honest.

I inquired about them because an amazing deal on a PG hunt came up. But if the outfitter isn’t reputable I’ll keep searching.

That’s really going back. Out of curiosity how’d you get connected with them in ‘97?

We started a SCI chapter in central California and it was a donation hunt. The best thing about the live auction was we got the new Remington 416 for $600 bucks!!! I’ve been to Africa 10 times with 17 different outfitters.
