I have been following LJ for quite a while, now, and hope to hunt there, too...just have a nasty injury in the way. Congrats on your hunt. Your son and you will have great memories of the experience.
Wow! That is quite batch of trophies. Congratulations! Did you enjoy the Karoo or coastal area more? Also, if you don’t mind, what rifles did you use and what ammo? Also, could you elaborate on the cat hunt? It looks like a shotgun was involved? I am really interested to hear more. Thanks and congratulations again.
Hi Gesch, hope you are doing well. Sorry for the late reply, Cliff and his son could not decide which area was their favorite, the big open space of the Karoo with large numbers of game made the Karoo area special...The coast on the other hand was a bit more green with different species and a different hunting technique, spot and stalk made the hunt different and enjoyable for them at the coast. His favorite hunt was the Bushbuck, hard work and looking over more than 20 rams to get the one he got and it was a magnificent animal measuring 15,5 inches.
They used a 300 Altra mag and used Nosler Accubond 180gr bullets, the rifle and bullets worked very well. The Caracals are fun hunts, we use hounds so if a cat gets treed we use a shotgun to shoot them, the cat hunts normally start very early in the morning so the hounds have a good chance to pick up scent, if they get scent well then game on. We have a video of a caracal hunt that we did earlier this year its on the site called Arnie hunts with LJ Safaris.
Great hunt report................sounds like your team did very well. I especially like your blessie and your boy's eland........congrats............always nice to hear about a good outfitter ............FWB
