Source for primers

It looks like the shelves of most of the places I shop online and in person for reloading supplies are finally starting to be stocked again.. I can find bullets, brass, and powders that I normally use reasonably easily and at reasonable prices (although 8 lb powder cans are still a bit hard to come by)...

Everyone seems to still be completely out of primers though.. Grafs, Natchez, Midway, Brownells, Scheels, Cabelas, Academy, etc.. all remain out of stock of pretty much every brand and size of primer...

Does anyone have a source or know where to find Small Rifle Primers? I'm well stocked on large rifle, magnum rifle, large pistol, and small pistol... but am out of small rifle and cant seem to find any options anywhere..

Or if anyone has some small rifle primers they are willing to part with.. Im happy to buy them off of you.. any quantity.. a sleeve of 100 will get me by for a while (Im not trying to feed a high volume ammo eater like a 556... Im just trying to work up some potential loads for a 350 legend)... but Im happy to buy a box of 1000.. or several boxes of 1000... whatever is available..

Unless it is life or death I would wait until they come back into your local supplier.

I have seen some ridiculous prices on primers lately.

I'm glad that I stocked up when they were on the shelves. I try and not get below 1000 of any one size anymore.

Ya no kidding. I've read that a lot of primers are going toward commercial ammo production causing supply shortages or the reloader. But I'm also of the opinion that a lot of people are getting into reloading now because for some it seems the only way to get ammo period. I've personally had 3 friends ask me to teach them to reload and they were serious about it. Each spending quite a few $ on presses and gear

Wow, I just checked with my online sources and they are out of all primers. Luckily I had put in a large order a while ago and set pretty well.

I'm glad that I stocked up when they were on the shelves. I try and not get below 1000 of any one size anymore.

30K for pistol and shotgun primers. 10K for everything else for me.

I was thinking that I was a bit low on small primers, but not at $.20 per primer. I suppose the reason for this is small primers are what are used in the majority of "self-defense" handgun cartridges and the AR rifles. So I'll wait til the price gets back to sane levels- hopefully if the election goes south Ms Hitler won't get the ban on everything passed.

I have never heard of any training, cert or licensing requirements for a private party to ship ammo or components. They cannot go by mail but UPS and FedEx will take them. I see many sellers saying they will ship such by mail and I have sent more than a few headsup emails to them.

I recently snagged a pound of IMR4350 on GB, paid more than I should have but it was there and I couldn't find any locally. It showed up today... in the mail! LOL. Guess the seller is as ignorant as I was until recently..

The USPS has sniffers for powder? I have received loaded ammo that the sender sent via USPS and it went straight through. But then, loaded ammo would have the powder tightly sealed and maybe a can of powder is sealed well enough that it wouldn't have a scent.

I'm not really sure of the USPS but I had been doing some reloading just before a trip and wearing the same pants that I planned to wear on the trip. I split a bit of powder onto them and when I went through security I was pulled aside for a secondary inspection. They wouldn't tell me why but the nitrates that got onto my pants was the only reason that I could think of.

It wouldn't be that hard for the USPS to set up sniffers to check packages as they whizzed by a inspection station.

@JimP You were probably pulled aside because you looked safe and respectable. Allows the screeners to meet their designated search quotas without the paperwork of actually catching anyone. Worldwide practice.
