SCI convention

Hedge, thank you for the thank you. But. I did not help help Rare Breed with the AH dinner.

I checked in with CMS about my Buffalo hunt coming up in August and wound up booking and elephant/buffalo hunt with them for August 2028.

Narrowed down some choices for a mid-Asian ibex in 2027.

These shows are the most dangerous game for my wallet!

Sent you a DM with it

We only had one day at the show, but made the best of it. The vendors and crowd were awesome. We made it out early this AM, but are stuck in Chicago at the moment. Hoping our connection leaves on time.

Just got home. I drove up Friday for the dinner Friday night and spent all day there yesterday. Had a great time connecting with old friends and made some new ones as well.

Against my better judgement, laid the ground work for a return trip to Alaska for Mt. Goat and possibly a bison.

Also booked a PG hunt in the Caprivi with an option to possibly add an own use buffalo or hippo in 2028.

Also spoke with a couple of outfitters to begin discussing/planning a possible LDE hunt in Cameroon.

So now I back home and back to work so I can make these dreams into reality.

Fantastic. I would love to hear more about your LDE plans.

I wasn’t sure if it was against the rules to openly post his number. Hopefully you got my DM?
Yes, thanks! He is in response already.

Me too!! I hunted LDE in 2002 I believe it was, did not connect.
Wow...I think Boddington told me he didn't connect on his first effort. Very expensive hunt.

Sadly, it also took 2 trips to get my bongo, lol, I've hunted Cameroon 4x.

My girlfriend once said, 'you'll end up dying with just 8.00 to your name', to which I replied, 'that'll be 7.00 too much!' lol

Cats have been my curse. 2 hard hunts to get
Mountain lion. 2nd hunt coming next year for leopard, which would finish my big 5.

I am in the very early stages of considering/planning. I spoke with two site sponsors that do LDE hunts just to get some basic ideas of their areas and procedures for their hunts in terms of travel arrangements, bringing rifles, best time of year, current anti-poaching efforts and asked for some references to speak with regarding their hunts.

I also spoke with a very well respected AH member who has hunted LDE with a different outfitter for his advice and his experience.

The general conclusion I’ve come up with so far is if I want to hunt LDE it probably should be sooner rather than later. So, I am starting that process now.

I may or may not be able to make the hunt come together while opportunity is still available. One thing for sure is it won’t happen on its own, so I am going to try and make it happen within the next 4 years.

@Green Chile and @Andrew62, feel free to shoot me a DM and we can discuss further. I’d be especially interested your advise and experience @Andrew62 related to your unsuccessful attempt.

I probably only have one shot at this (at most) and I’d like to maximize my chances for success. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming about how cool the SCI conventions is.

At the risk of coming across as a used car salesman, I think you're spot on with that comment. It seemed like every other visitor to the @JKO HUNTING SAFARIS booth came in to ask about hunting Cameroon for either LDE or Bongo, and I would say it weighed a little more towards LDE.

If memory serves, for LDE we are sold out for 2026 and most of 2027. We took initial smaller deposits to hold bookings for 2028. The area we are hunting LDE has limited quota of 4-5 bulls per year. We are keeping it low to keep quality high is the first reason. The second is that we don't want too much pressure in the area to avoid pushing the cows out. If the cows leave, the bulls will follow. So the 2nd reason is to also keep shot opportunity high.

Got tangled up with our early morning flight and had to push leaving til tmrw at 5 am. There wasn’t an empty plane leaving Nashville today I dont think.
I didn’t book anything but did put in a solid 14 miles walking over 3 days!

I was seated next to an Alaskan Outfitter when leaving Nashville this morning. He has had a booth for many years. He said this was top selling year by far....

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew
