The SAVES Act just passed committee and will at some point be considered by the full House. This is THE most important piece of legislation for hunters in a very long time. It limits the USFWS’s use of ESA to Only animals native to the USA. This means no more authority over my exotics and no more authority over foreign animals and trophy imports. I’m tired of not only the hassle but the waste of my tax dollars managing foreign wildlife!
Let’s support SCI by calling all our US Reps today!

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION PEOPLE!

Regards,
Philip

This is huge. Hopefully it passes. Thank you for sharing.

I like the strategy.
Remove the legislative power and the appeal of wasting tax payer dollars on foreign wildlife.
Someone should run for office.

Phill,

This is a big deal, thanks for passing it on.

Absolutely. One of the rare times we have been able to seize the initiative nationally.

Thanks for sharing this encouraging news!

Its a great idea, and I will send some emails, but does anyone think it will make it past the Senate? Too many RINOS in the Senate, we see it every day on everything they try to do back there. The House has passed many, many bills just to see them die in that most August of govt branches, the US Senate. Don't beat up on me for facing reality. Lets hope it makes it, but I doubt it.

It says that once African Ivory got past Thai borders, the could be sold as much as they were, because of no domestic measures (ESA) BS! what about CITES?

27 Co-sponsors, 26 (R) and 1 (D), kind of shows which party supports sportsmen.

Forgive my lack of research. Would this mean then hunters would only have to adhere to CITES? Would this not be another way to then lift the bans on elephant and whatever else?

That's my understanding. Essentially agreeing to abide by CITES and nothing more. Would be a huge win for conservation.

Would be an out for Trump to essentially not go it alone on the elephant imports..... @Royal27

Yeah, that's my understanding as well. This is gonna be a tough sell too, but it' a good bill for conservation on lots of levels.

I would love it to pass, it would be a dream come true bill for wildlife conservation.

This is what SCI indicates. I read the bill and I am no so sure. As they say the devil is in the details.
Stay tuned or better yet lets all call our congressmen and try to get a straight answer!

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
