The Morankiv is a fantastic knife for the money. I once boned out an elk with one & it was still sharp when we got done. They are about $15 here.

Some simple things I do to help me out when I camp.
Bug Spray. Seriously. Unless your camping in Winter time, Bugs get everywhere. This will help you ignore them and enjoy the Outdoors.

I tend to use the Trunk of a vehicle to store food and trash in. Helps cut down the risk of Unwanted Critters invading your camp.

Doesn't hurt to have extra stuff. As long as you don't overburden yourself. I always have extra batteries for Flashlights, extra water, and extra socks when I do any kind of Hiking or Camping. I just like to be prepared.

That sling shot handled knife with the tanto blade is cool and reminds of my early grade school days. We used rocks about the size of the average marble. Our sling shots were home made using forked branches, strips of inner tube, thin leather from worn out shoe tongues and cotton string to connect the parts. It was absolutely critical to use the correct type rubber inner tube- some inner tube rubber is almost useless for the purpose. I vaguely remember a type of red inner tube that was excellent for sling shot bands and was most prized. The kid who scrounged up a quality red inner tube was one VIP!

The last kid, I saw with one in his pocket was several years ago in the middle of nowhere at a small river crossing near the Zambia-Malawi border. It looked identical to the ones we made as kids over 60 years ago. His family, who was there doing laundry, helped get our vehicle across the river. Maybe they were also there in hopes of making a few Kwacha from river crossers needing assistance, who knows? I recall they said they worked in the nearby cane farms. They were clearly poor with little to no means. Likely partially subsistence gathering when not cutting cane. Two of the women had babies slung on their backs. While taking a break and eating a sandwich after crossing, I gathered up some “ammunition”. Before we left, I handed a couple of pockets full of those perfect, marble sized stones to the young hunter. His ear to ear grin let me know, “I spoke his language”- made my day. We gave the senior family member a little money for the help. I could tell one of the mothers was more interested in the partial loaf of bread than the money. We gladly shared some food then went on our way.

Took me a few minutes to figure out that automatic hook setter with trigger was for barbel (barber?) Should work like a champ- scary simple! Back in the day, a small metal, spring loaded hook setter contraption based on same idea was available... called a Yo-Yo I think.

With practice those rubber band powered sling shots actually work pretty well for small birds and game up to chipmunk size. Our small gang in grade school, 3rd to 5th grade IIRC, would hunt doves and house sparrows in large trees during the fall on school grounds during recess. Max range with some percentage of hits not too bad... up to about 20-30 feet. Would be of some use for gathering survival food. I am sure small birds and similar size game were what that young boy in Zambia was hunting with his sling shot. Pop a couple, build a small fire and have a meal
