An interesting looking rifle has just been advertised. https://usedguns.com.au/gun/380358/ It's stated to be a Rigby mauser in .303 Brit sold by Rigby in 1919. To my uneducated eye it looks like its been refurbished. A beautiful rifle, but I suspect its collector value may have been nullified. The blueing doesn't look right for a hundred year old rifle and the stock design looks too modern.

I know we have a number of very knowledgeable members when it comes to these types of rifles. I'd love to hear your opinion.

Stock is not original and this is a very late .303 . There was a special serial number allocated to the 303 by mauser and they are all less than 100. I have seen #26,66 and 91.
so 673 serial number is an anomaly? These are super rare and costly but Only in original nick.Looks like this one has been worked a bit but if it’s done professionally then it doesn’t detract from the value. Things like aftermarket scope or new wood ruins the collection value and makes the rifle less authentic and therefore less valuable.

I just opened the link and price is now $6000 less. Woohoo, almost within budget !:ROFLMAO:

here's mine SN#4032. shipped about 1912-13 all original

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
