thanks :D Beers:. when you think of what the rigby corbett rifle went for this is for less than peanuts....:E Big Grin: i know that rifle was an amazing piece of workmanship after looking at it, but to me this is more what a rigby from that period would have looked like, a very nicely built rifle to be used. the corbett one is an exhibition grade rifle that i doubt back then rigbys would have made....unless it was for one of the indian royalty maybe..... the original corbett rifle looks the same as my old one , so probably looked like my new one when made.....possibly with not as good wood. so yeah real happy paul decided to show me this rifle, and it was just by chance he did. it was one of those oh hang on you might like to look at this........and oh yeah i did . couldnt put it down.......:A Thumbs Up:

Have to agree with you Mike. While the Corbett tribute rifle is incredible, its not my cup of tea. I like a rifle that looks like it could have been there, done that. Or one that has been there, done that and has the character marks to prove it. Do you have a pic of your old one?

Very nice Mike'

I just want to go visit Paul with you. I will probably get kicked out for drooling .... LOL

I hope you said hello to Mr. Brockman for me.

its the one in its original case in the first photo with the new one above it. for some reason it looks a lot newer in the photo than in the metal but still in vgood condition.

You do know you will have to try that 275 out on elephant and verify that it performs as well as WDM Bell's 275 did.;)

Regarding the Corbett Rigby 275, Tony Makris/DSC show "Under Wild Skies" had a special on it. Mark Newton took Corbett's rifle to India. Bill Jones took a Corbett rifle as well. They went to a number of the places where Corbett had killed maneaters. I was surprised that there are markers at a number of locations (completely opposite of what would happen in Africa) where maneaters were shot. They even showed the tree where Corbett shot the Rudraprayag leopard out of. Not sure if you get the Outdoor Channel.

I agree that Rigby's reproduction of Corbett's rifle was beautiful. Glad it sold for a great price to help tiger conservation.

That episode was a good show. For me anyway. And yes, that reproduction gun is a thing of beauty.

put this on the gun porn thread but i think it will go nicely on here as well. its a record of the rifles and hand guns Karamojo Bell had made or bought from Rigbys. it includes six .275 Rigbys and the two .416 Rigbys he had made. real interesting looking at the copies of the ledgers paul has and seeing the slight differences in each rifle , as all weights, sights fitted, barrel length, dates delivered etc are recorded in hand writing

Neat post Mike!

@Wheels is the 275 Rigby legal to use on elephant in this day and age?

As far as I know, 375 is the minimum caliber that can be used most anywhere. Namibia might go off a jules number. West Africa might use something else. Bet @BRICKBURN knows. @AfricaHunting.com would know about the Namibia regs.

That's what I thought was required!

Until this guy posts something on pay it forward free I would avoid him at all costs.

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.

Hey pal! I'll take all the .375 bullets if they're available.
Thanks!
