What are your thoughts on this: I'm having a barrel rebored from 30-06 to 9.2x62. Would having a simple thin line etched across the "30-06 Springfield" (but still viewable) be ok? The 9.3x62 would be engraved somewhere on the barrel

Or am I better off having the 30-06 100% milled out

I would be inclined to have it milled out. Only reason it could take for some officious border guy having a bad hair day sharing it with you.

Agree with the above. No need to take a chance when you don’t have to.

Remember “it’s Africa”!
Take .30-06 off

First, see where it lines up after the rechamber job. It may be on the bottom of the barrel and out of sight.

Just curious, why a rebore and not just a new barrel?

I have .458 B&M/.300 RUM etched on my rifle just in case as shown below. As cartridges have .300 RUM on them. That being said I never had them compared in a multitude of trips to various African countries.

I've done the same with my 458B&M. I honestly don't think they care about the calibers from what I've seen. They just check the S/N and maybe how much ammunition you have.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,
