Back in April, I went to New Zealand to hunt free range Red Stag and Tahr. This is the link to my hunt report: https://www.africahunting.com/threa...tahr-hunt-with-kiwi-wilderness-safaris.49412/

I did the dip and pack in NZ, then sent it to Houston for tannery work and and then to Major Creations Taxidermy (https://www.majorcreationstaxidermy.com/) in Cypress, TX (NW Houston).

David Majors called me Thursday morning and told me the Red Stag was ready. The timing was perfect, as I was heading to my home in Louisiana that afternoon and the weather was clear and dry. The stag was going to ride in the back of my pick up. I picked it up mid afternoon and a day later, got it hanging in the man cave. A friend came over and we removed the antelope and dall sheep and just barely were able to get the stag hanging. Right at the limits of a 10 ft step ladder.

The wall is now somewhat out of balance, which will require me to go do a moose hunt soon to fill the spot over the mule deer and nilgai.

Hell of a free range stag! And twice the trophy of one of those protein enhanced fenced frankenstags. Really well done.

NICE!! I hope mine looks just like it. But I won't know for several months yet. He's still walking around in Argentina.

Rey nice looking bull

Congrats on getting him home, looks good!

Looks great Dave!

I would suggest a quick jaunt to Argentina for one of the free-range stags offered by MG Hunting to balance that wall!

Red Leg, that is where my son Arthur L Lambart II and I are going in March. Supposedly we will be there for the "Roar."

My son and I are going in ‘21 at the same time. Keep us posted - and try not to wack the first one you see!(y)

Odd question - what are the dimensions on the stag on the wall? I am heading to Argentina soon for one, worried, I may not have enough room.

I am currently in Brazil, doing some consulting work. I was trying to figure out how to slip down to Argentina before heading back to the US, but couldn't make it work. When I get home I will try to get some dimensions and post it here.

Several other AH members have Red Stag mounts, so maybe they will chime it with some info.

Rough measurements:

From bottom (chest) to tips of antlers is about 48 inches. So if you have a 12 ft ceiling and put the points almost touching, the bottom will be at 8 ft.

From the wall to the tip of nose is 38 inches. The brow tines stick out another 6 inches or so.

The antler spread is estimated to be around 45 inches.

Hope this helps.

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
