I'm looking for advice on using a red dot scope for hunting, specifically for fast-moving game like hogs. I want something that works well in low light conditions and can handle some rough use in the field.

What models have you tried that hold zero well and have good battery life? I'm trying to find a good balance between price and reliability. I've been checking out some options on sites that specialize in red dot scopes but would appreciate real-world experience from hunters.

Any recommendations for a solid optic that won't break the bank but can withstand hunting conditions would be great. Thanks for your help.

u looking for a scope with red dot, or a reflex sight?

My go to is AimPoint for reflex sights. Very durable and high quality without breaking the bank. H2/T2 depending on your needs. Especially good if you are using an AR platform.

This is what I was going to ask....

RMR all the way!
For a reflex sight this is what I have and love it.

For a traditional scope with reddot in low light, I have the Leupold VX5 ZL2 2-10x44 with 30mm tube + firedot and I love it.

But soundS like you may be after something else like the LPVO scope with illuminated reticle.

I do some driven boar shooting and use either:

Noblex - NV sight II plus (Doctor Optic)
or
Trijicon RMR Red Dot 3.25 MOA dot.

Both have long battery life and they have both survived large caliber safari hunting. They are not cheap but nothing good is!

I've used a 4moa red dot for calling coyotes. Worked good inside 100 as already mentioned. Past that it wasn't the best for me.

I am a Trijicon 1.0 man. I wish I could buy a Kales Red Dot but no longer available in US. The Trijicon takes incredible abuse and has never failed me on 8 DRs

Take a look at Nightforce NX8 1-8. Fantastic optic for hunting pigs and works well with NODS. 1x is a very good red dot, and 8x is a very usable scope with illuminated reticle.

Will also recommend the Aimpoint Comp M4. Great battery life and very durable. I actually prefer the size of the Comp M5, but one just quit on me and has gone back for repair. The Comp M4 is bulkier, but very durable and reliable.
