Problems Getting Elephant Tusks from Collette’s

I have multiple trophies from 2 different hunts including elephant tusks, been emailing for 2 months for an update and no answer back. My permits expire in April 2026, starting to get worried.

@Rare Breed
Glad to hear Steve got involved and hopfully has it sorted now.
We had the tusks done, plus replicas with mold, 2 ears (1 painted), and 2 foot stools. Order was completed last month but for whatever reason the export permits took a bit longer then anticipated so I went and applied for my extension.
Now here I sit waiting for the approval of that before our items can be shipped.
Been told by Conservation Force it should be 30 days +- so no big deal as long as ot gets approved.
Im with you 100% on the pictures going forward. With around 70+ taxidermy items I find myself more fond of the pictures with people in them with the game then I do of just the animal.

One thing is for sure, as I know the real costs and prices of taxidermy, we are all paying at least 4x of what it could be with better info and more competition. There are no poor taxidermists.

Where are all these rich taxidermists? I know there are several really big shops in the US where the OWNER of the shop might be doing really well, but the average taxidermist or smaller shops aren't living high on the hog or vacationing anywhere tropical. Maybe 1 in 50 shops is making real money.

It takes such small mistakes to cause such huge headaches.
You would think that someone could have clued in and questioned the reason the hunter did not reply.
$5000 should provide one rather large clue that the hunter wanted the trophy.

Hope the worst is over.

Last year I kept getting emails from some safari company with very specific financial details of an upcoming trip etc. Turns out I had an almost identical email address as the other person (both had a safari-theme word) and the company had apparently forgotten to add a 1 at the end of the address so the emails went to me instead of the other guy.

Yes, small details can make a huge difference.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
