Biden is pandering to his environmental base. If a few Canadian First Nation people are ruined, that is the price in his mind of simply maintaining his coalition.
It's a tragedy, both current and historical. Last time it was about a railroad, and this time it is about renewable energy. The right-wing parties in Canada have to realize their best ally are the First Nations. Once they control what their land is used for it will dilute the power of the Laurentian elite and urban Ontarians. You will no doubt see many renewable projects. But, they want money now and that means O&G. That is an important difference between them and the middle-class socialist brat idling in their condo downtown.

Apart from being expensive and hugely inefficient, try and run 'alternative energy systems' without oil

It has always been, and continues to be, a slight of hand to suggest that any country runs anything effectively with wind and solar

Geothermal and hydro perhaps - the rest is 'emperors clothes'

However. cheap oil is running out - the problem remains that so many people on the planet can not continue to enjoy the current lifestyle indefinitely - Either the population reduces or we all start to enjoy less freedom

THAT is (I believe) the agenda of corporate globalism - suffocating control so that a small elite can continue their lifestyle at the expense of most of us

it has been my observation that, to the extent monopolies exist, it is because of government involvement in the market, not in spite of it; either via direct legislation (which created the AT&T monopoly and has created a monopoly on the Last Mile for ISPs) or via regulation. Big business generally loves regulation - they ultimately write them, and they serve to generally raise the barrier to entry into their market. Regulation ultimately serves as a mandate to adopt the same business model as the current big boy market players.

I am in the camp which favors separation of economy and state the same way we have separation of church and state.

So called green energy is anything but! China “extracting” (raping) the raw natural resources for, transporting, producing, selling and shipping the “stuff” (panels, electronics, turbines, batteries, etc.) yet exempt from intl environmental regs or scrutiny as they are classed as third world country. Big Green (Waste Management) grinning ear to ear over huge future hazmat contracts for removal, handling and STORAGE. Not to mention such gov smoke and mirror subsidized, mandated, regulated industries as the bio fuel industry where it can take up to a gallon and a half of dead dinosaurs to produce and transport a gallon of clean green ethanol. Feels good to say you’re green I guess.

It is certainly not as easy to define progress as just being efficient.
As an example, promote your product to a large, international, western company.
If you are not :
environmentally
politically correct
socially in consensus with others
certified and act in consensus with others, they don't care about your efficiency and they will give you not a chance to talk with them.
The parameters have shifted and it would be ideal, if the deputy CEO belonged to the third gender.

I also fear, that we will crash economically, but who should overtake us in Europe?
There is no one far and wide.
We sinking together.
You will be flooded by people from South America and we from Africa.
Carpe diem
The most grotesque hypocrisy of all the virtue signaling of corporations and governments is their willingness to gladly offshore component production in China or India which are of course unencumbered by this nonsense. A lovely new Mercedes may roll of the assembly line in Sindelfingen, but that is all that plant really is - an assembly and research operation. The sub-system content of those machines is built where environmental standards are far more relaxed.

I should add, many corporations in the west have no choice but to do this in order to survive the environmental regulating structure of their own countries. So, they erect environmental facades which pander to the environmental wing of the current ruling coalition while the real work is done in the smog of urban Beijing.

You are right...if Germany fails, it will be a bad thing for Europe.

As to the rest, it's pure madness, regressive.

The German value added of an Audi is just 20% !!!this should not be different for Daimler and consortia.

Kamala failed miserably in the primary. A lack of campaign funding, and and no clear platform, or clear message to potential voters.
The only reason she is now V.P, is because of her gender, and ethnicity.

She needs to thank Willie Brown for aiding her career. Hard work and dedication to your trade always pays off.

The current PC term for someone that was previously referred to as Negro, then Colored, then Black, is now African American. I haven't seen Ms Horrible's parents but one is from India. the people that I now from India have an olive complexion. Those from Jamaica have dark skin. But in either case neither can claim to be African or any lineage with those that were slaves. Ms Horrible may have skin that isn't white, but she is also Not-African-American.

Don't tell me these Democrat lockdowns were not politically motivated.
Now they need the tax dollars to advance the Biden agenda

Two things: The DemonRats want things to go well now so that the MSM can give credit to the Bidet

2, they want to penalize and further impoverish those 80 million that voted for Trump by taxing them beyond recovery.

Most Western countries banned child labour decades ago. So now we buy our rugs, for example, from India and Pakistan where they are made with child labour and we feel so good about ourselves.

Hypocrisy knows no political boundaries. In fact, it seems to be a pre-requisite for any person aspiring to political office.

The problem, as I see it, is that there are those in society who have pretty much decided that they will not tolerate anyone whose views differ from theirs. And they then go on to label anyone who disagrees with them as intolerant. They then state that they are justified in not tolerating those they have defined as intolerant.

It gets pretty easy to vilify people if you get to define who the bad guys are by your own criteria, unburdened by any moral, societal or historical guides.

A fellow that I worked with nearly 30 years ago was a LtCom (O4) in the Navy Reserve. For his month active he went to Treasure Island (in SF/SP bay. While there he met with a lot of local people as well as diverse navy personnel. on his return to work his comment about the San Francisco culture was that they claimed to be tolerant, but only of their view- to everything else they were intolerant. That was 1993. 28 years has only seen that ideology spread and intensify.

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.
