I’m amazed by the ignorance of people on both ends of the political spectrum when it comes to the Pope and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Every time a new Pope is elected, the left-leaning media reacts in shocked horror to find that the new Pope is actually a Catholic! He believes in traditional Catholic teachings like marriage is between one man and one woman…abortion is a grave sin….you know…#Catholicstuff.

Now it’s the right-wing’s turn. They are shocked to hear that the man styled as the Vicar of Christ is against war! He’s even advocating that we treat all of the people of the world as dear neighbors.

Clearly, the Pope isn’t elected to run the affairs of any nation. Our President has to balance the very real-world consequences of immigration with the nation’s best interest. He must occasionally take the Nation to war. But the Pope has a different job with different responsibilities.

The US has flown 13,000+ military sorties. That is a lot of damage inflicted.

We're dumb if we compensate them at all--give them something productive to do afterward. Hate to say it, but maybe the war hasn't been painful enough--they don't seem to be motivated to change. More casualties, especially in armed forces might be a good thing in the long run.

Have you ever witnessed polystyrene burning? I have I spent 10 years in the fibreglass boat industry before becoming a commercial fisherman. Polystyrene burns every bit as black as a tire does and puts of nausea inducing fumes now I’m no scientist or west coast hippy so I don’t have all the answers but seems to me anyone truly concerned with the environment wouldn’t be advocating the burning of polystyrene. On top of that when you burn fibreglass structures the mat and woven glass fibres themselves do not burn only resin does so you are left with a just as much glass to deal with it is just harder to handle as it is no longer ridged and won’t hold its form.

I mean, polystyrene and polyester are two different things. But, some turbine blades may use small amounts of foam to hold the blade shape as the fiberglass and resin mixture cures. But others dont, or use alternatives such as balsa wood.

Also, If you're concerned about the styrene and benzene released when poly burns, I've got some bad news for you about the oil and petrochemical industries...

Oh, but they do. I lived in one forr awhile and they were after me constantly even though most of what they harassed me about was perfectly within guidelines. No reason, no discussion, just arbitrary decisions on their part.
I built a chicken wire enclosure for my garden spot, all within the rules, and painted it sage green to blend with the foliage in the area. They had a fit and threatened me with fines, lawsuits.They wanted the fence to be black. I tried to explain my color choice all to no avail. When we built the house the type of lights on the deck were spelled out and passed their inspection, were signed off on the plans. Shortly after they came after us saying the lights didn't comply. I showed them the plans and their checksheet showing compliance. "Oh, well, we decided we didn't like them and you have to change them." No recourse,we had to change the lights. It wasn't worth the hassle of suing the bastards.
My advice: If someone says hoa, RUN fast and far. That was my first and last encounter with those mafia assholes. Never again.

The reason they get away with it, is because most people don't want to lawyer up and fight them. I understand that.

Than the dry western U.S. and usable water crisis.

If Greenies need a cause. Why not focus on capturing the rain and flood water in the east and pipe it west. The usual pushback is the cost and mountains. There are plenty of viable pathways to pipe water west. the I-10 corridor would be suitable.

Have you ever been to CA? Liberals there are plenty concerned with water. Its very much a daily concern for many of them. As a civil and environmental engineer, I would be more than happy to work on and construct such a water conveyance system for you, and the west. I'm not sure you realize just how expensive such a pipeline would cost, but that's not the biggest issue.

The biggest issue is actually the NIMBYism you blamed on liberals. Theres not enough water in the plains aquifers, so that water is coming from surface waters back east. Which river do we take that from? The obvious choice would be the Mississippi. Every southern/midwest state that boarders that river is run by republicans (except Illinois). Go ask them if they are willing to give up some of their water. I dont think any of them will be so willing.

The I-10 route would be best, but you'd still need to lift that water column above 4,000 feet, from near sea-level back east. The ongoing energy requirements would be vast.

Because most people have no choice. Every single new subdivision everyplace I've ever lived has an HOA now. You cant buy into a subdivision without one now. Buying a vacant piece of property yourself and then building your own home is far too expensive these days. Its just out of reach for most folks. Subdivisions are the only game in town.

I’ve bought land and built over and over again every single place I’ve ever lived. My first farm I bought my wife and I put a double wide on and we thought we were royalty, because we owned it. We built it up and I sold the hog barns to a larger farmer that wanted it more.

Then I bought three vacant lots in Sunset Harbor NC. Put a trailer on one lot and built a house on the other two. Sold all three.

In Alaska I bought a lot on the Kashwitna. Built a cabin and sold it to follow the herd to ND during the Bakkan boom.

Bought (this time) an old remodel, sold it two years later.

Maybe it’s ingrained in my DNA. My father’s grandfather came to the USA as an indentured servant. After he made good on his “debt” he bought a house and a small lot next to it. He lived in a small cabin on that lot until he made his money. He Owned a creamery, a dairy and died a very wealthy landowner, all because he lived and worked and hustled shrewdly.

Facts do matter; the kids in cages started under Obama and they also had record amounts of “got aways” and catch and release into the USA.

Obamas numbers were all at the border too, their now going after the interior and established ones; having shut the open border down.

With a career in heavy civil construction in Texas I can tell you there is a massive difference in employer enforcement under Trump; a former employer was caught with massive blatantly false documents for dozens of employees and got $700 fine under Obama; during Trump's first term he got busted again and the feds seized $2mil in assets.
