Hello four.

Clearly, you're interested in voting reform.

Would you also agree to rank-choice voting, independent electoral commissions (setting boundaries and running elections), voting on Saturday, postal voting, absentee voting, compulsory voting?

Or are you only interested in reforms which you perceive to be an advantage to your preferred party?

So how about this for voting, you go to place you show ID, you mark your ballot, you turn it in.

Please explain to me why this is unfair, favors a party, or is over complicated?

The only exception should be for active duty military. It really shouldn't be that hard.

Not all just the more vocal and obnoxious ones and more like missing the greatest generation.

Some of my fondest memories center around the massive circle of WWII veteran friends my grandfather had and I was constantly around as a kid.

I actually have a great many friends that are boomers and they know my feelings on the matters most especially getting genuinely pissed at the expression that the current youth are drooling idiots to be looked down on.

Not especially on this forum, but in actual life I am surrounded by boomers on a daily basis and some of the negative views I hear expressed about kids I personally know that are 18 and under are infuriating outright lies.

One local couple with lakefront property make an Olympic sport in being incredibly profane and hostile to kids asking to fish on their property and if they use a boat to access from the lake side (epic sand bass fishing)they’ll go out and throw rocks in the water up and down the shore line.

If dueling was still legal I’d challenge man and wife both……
That local couple sound like obnoxious so and sos. But being open minded, I do wonder if there is background to their hostility. Have you asked? Being asked politely could cause them to rethink their lives.

Years ago we had desperately severe fires sweeping through neighbourhoods. Many older citizens refused to evacuate. Hundreds of houses went up. A feature of the day was gangs of teenagers and youths running around, putting out fires that were starting in peoples' gardens, roof gutters, etc. Some old folks spoke on camera that they would have lost their houses and perhaps their lives if not for these unknown kids.

I hope I am wrong but I still think these sorts of things are harbingers of what's coming in November...

Here in Australia, we don't show ID. We say our name and address, this is checked against the electoral roll, we're asked if we've already voted, our attendance is recorded on the roll, we're handed our ballot papers or shown to a booth with a screen. Our elections are fair and well respected. We have all of the reforms I mentioned above already in place. A person can only vote if they're on the electoral roll, which established their bona fides. Simple.

How interested in reform are you?
- rank-choice voting? You get to show who you want the most and who you want the least.
- independent electoral commissions? No more gerrymandering.
- voting on Saturday? Much easier for everyone to vote.
- postal voting? Much easier for everyone to vote, whether sick or busy, etc.
- absentee voting? Much easier for everyone to vote, even if travelling.
- compulsory voting? Everyone votes, meaning the result truly represents the peoples' preference.

Are you game?

For those on here who are on the Libtard/Dem/TDS koolaid and who only believe data and are too lazy or stupid or both to look it up here you go…. As of 2022, some 200,000 non citizens had acquired driver’s licenses in Colorado. The Colorado DMV, who issues driver’s licenses, is the primary supplier of the official data base for voter registration to the individual county clerks around the state. It is automatic for driver’s license applicants to also be registered to vote in Colorado.

Additionally as an aside, the same data base is also used as the primary pool for jury duty assignment notices around the state. Another nugget to ponder, eh? ;)

The county clerk sends ballots to voters based primarily on that DMV licensee data base. Non citizens receive ballots for voting. They (or whomever) fill out the ballot and mail it in or deliver it to voting collection boxes. The outside security envelope is signed by the voter. If the clerk or whomever checks the signature, it obviously matches the signature on file at the DMV. I doubt many if any are cross checked but it doesn’t matter. The ballot itself remains anonymous. So all is kosher. The voter data base has been successfully laundered through an official state data base. Who knows how many non citizens vote in Colorado, because such irregularities are not investigated in the bright blue sanctuary state of Colorado. The Secretary of State in Colorado certified a 30-40k batch of similarly questionable ballots coming from some jurisdiction (s)? in 2020. The record and data were destroyed. The state of Colorado prosecuted and a judge sentenced a county clerk in Mesa county Colorado to 9 years in prison for copying and preserving questionable voting data during the 2020 election. That person is still in prison. But no matter- “nothing to see here” so said multiple Dem activist judges involved in overseeing multiple election discrepancies around the US in 2020, saying they had found no impropriety…. without even investigating the impropriety! Believe whatever you like.
It is not automatic to register everyone at the DMV to vote in Colorado, another lie. The DMV forwards the registration data to the county clerks, and they determine if someone actually gets registered. It is not an automatic process of registration. Therefore if an illegal is registered, your issue lies with that county clerk.

That person you speak of committed crimes. Youc ant have it both ways. Demand that we pass laws to "protect the integrity of the voting system" and then when someone violates that not charge them with a crime?

You are freaking hilarious. You come to a hunting forum to debate political ideas? What you will find here is a group of men who , by and large, have been very successful in their career and personal lives, allowing them to pursue a passion that requires not a small amount of “get off your dead ass and make it happen”. Not sure that’s something with which you are familiar. But you keep on doing you. L
Thank you for proving my point.

Ranked choice is stupid. Who you want the most? Pick who you want and call it good. I don't need to rank the ones I wouldn't vote for.
No, ranked-choice is not stupid.

49% of voters put a total nutjob first, but 51% put him or her last. They don't get elected. This is good.

With 'first past the post' elections, a winner could have only 20% or 30% of the vote. A big majority of voters didn't want them. That's dumb.

That's how it is done in North Carolina!!

No I'm not game, I literally said what I want. Much easier to vote is not an actually reason.

And to minimize too many posts, in politics today one person's nut job is another person's hero, and vice versa. So yes Rank Choice is stupid.

So how do the sick or elderly or heavily pregnant or disabled or too busy or absent or unable-to-leave-work-on-Tuesday people get to vote? You're OK with them not being able to vote?

If you're not much interested in making elections as fair as possible, then you're not much interested in fair elections.

Could it be that many/most of the problems we see in the US, reflected in the tone of discussion in this thread, arise from the country's inequitable election processes? I have the view that if your elections worked better, your society would work better.

Well at least we won't hear you complaining when a candidate you abhor wins with 30% of the vote.

1. Republicans control all 3 branches of the federal government so stop trying to blame the dems for TSA agents not getting paid.

2. I've cited sources in the past but they're just ignored here, so why even bother? But bc you asked nicely, I'lll get you a few at the bottom.

3. Dissolve the DOE? WOW! You're even more liberal than I am. Even I don't advocate unilateral nuclear disarmament. You do realize that the Energy Department is in charge of the Nuke's right, via the Nat'l Nuclear Security Admin. Its more than half their budget in any given year. The DOE is also home to americas main research labs. As the US federal gov is the largest researcher in the world, I dont think that would bode well for our economy.

4. "If you own a business that has a number of employees who cost money to keep on payroll but have no substantial contribution to your businesses or are a liability to overall performance, you would fire them." If they weren't making money, than yes I would. My family has been in and out of self-employment since the 40s. But we don't fire people who make us money. My first job out of college was for a company that had recently been bought out by some private equity assholes. A few months later they laid-off three people in my department. The reason? They weren't making the company enough money. They were still profitable, but equity's net target return was between 15-17%, and their project was now below 10%. Not bc they were losing the Company money. P. Equity was so fucking greedy that 15% was their new minimum. In my grandfathers day a 9% net return would have been entirely reasonable. After I left, they raised their target to over 20%. These large multinational trillion dollar companies laying ppl off aren't loosing money buddy.

5. Government is also different. It's not about making money, its about providing services to its people. By your standards the military loses over $1.5 trillion a year. Ppl on the right don't seem to mind that. But the post office or Amtrak "loose" a couple hundred million, and they go ape-shit and demand layoffs.

6. You, like many seem to misunderstand where federal monies go. 85% of all federal dollars is Mandatory or Military discretionary spending. We could eliminate ALL non-defense discretionary spending and still have a deficit. These "bloated" programs and salaries and spending are mere rounding errors to other programs.

7. Democrats didnt bury this country in debt. Republicans did. Lets go through that then and we can save the medical discussion for later. Reagan takes over in 1981, the country is in 0.9 trillion in debt, after 10 years of Reaganomics the country is in 3.7 trillion in debt and climbing. Bush's daddy tries to reign in these uncontrollable deficits. His fellow republicans loose their mind about broken promises. But it wasnt enough, deficits continue. Until Clinton. One of the first bills they got passed in 1993 was a tax increase on the rich. Go watch old CSPAN videos of republicans coming to tears on the house floor talking about how bad these tax increase will be. And what happened? The largest, longest, continual economic expansion in the history of the republic. Tax increases on rich didn't hurt us at all. Within 5 years we had a balanced budget...due to increasing taxes on the rich. Enter the Bush administration. Bush got elected and immediately said that budget surplus were proof that the gov collected too much money (or maybe we should keep paying off debt with it), time for another tax cut for the rich...oh shit...here we go. He turned 100 billion+ surplus into a 100+ billion deficit within one year. Adjusted for inflation thats more that double in todays dollars.

8. The Reagan tax cuts were never paid for, the bush tax cuts were never paid for. And then he goes to war without paying for it. Remember why we had income taxes to begin with...TO PAY FOR OUR WAR EXPENSES! Previous presidents knew that, but somehow that escaped GW. So then he doubles down, and doubles down again. Another war in 2003 in Afghanistan not paid for, another round of tax cuts not paid for in 03, then another in 2005, and some more sprinkled throughout his admin. No child left behind, Medicare part D...etc. Then they crash the world economy with deregulation and dump a 1.4 trillion dollar budget deficit in Obama's lap. But somehow it's the Dems fault. Yeah ok. After 8 years the budget deficit under Obama is back down to $520 BIllion. Then Trump gets elected and in his first year doubles that to $1 trillion dollars. Why....because the 2017 tax cuts for the rich thats why!
And then things went downhill fast from there.

9. You see D and R are both financially irresponsible, but the Republicans are by an entire order of magnitude. Obama's big spending bill, the ACA? It actually Paid for itself through new taxes, even reduced the deficit by 15 billion per year. When Dems spend money they pay for it, when R's do it, its all deficit spending buddy. Remember what Dick Cheney once said..."Reagan proved that deficits don't matter"....well, they will soon enough.

Republicans do not control the Senate. It takes 60 votes to pass things through the Senate. Democrats are at fault for the TSA debacle by trying to blackmail Republicans into changing the role of the DHS.

Yeah sure, buddy. I’m his embarrassment to tell me I guess I should have asked to see documentation? You’re ridiculous.

If he used your vote I would have expected you to follow through with it - maybe it was just a waste of your time.
My post had a spelling error that caused it to be confusing. My point was that do you really think I should have asked him for documentation when he was embarrassed by his conviction? I believed him. Why would he lie about breaking the law and getting caught? He didn’t vote my ballot. He received two and voted both.

It is the end of my day so I went back and reread what you posted. He received two ballots and voted twice and was convicted apparently. I figure justice was served. Without details it is no different than a story that anyone could tell. I will take your word but that is a leap of faith. If I told you the same thing how exactly would you receive it with out any details?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
