I am thrilled that, after 46 years, the US team finally were able to challenge successfully for Olympic Gold. I look forward to the made for tv movie and Hollywood block buster about the game to tide us all over until the 2072 Olympics

This Cartel situation begs the question of how many Americans are going to die in Mexico?
The Cartels are ruthless animals, and will continue with revenge killing
Last time I was in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, was in 2007. After that I made an executive decision to avoid Mexico due to safety issues.

@Hank2211

May I ask what is the prohibited weapon you are having to turn in?
S&W M&P 15. They banned anything which looks like an “assault rifle” which includes anything resembling an AR 15.

@Tubby’s Canteen

Can you paraphrase all of that for us?

It seems like they are creating a cluster F*** of epic proportion where know body knows how to move forward.
Many of the now prohibited firearms were previously classified as non restricted and as such there is no formal record of where they are the liberals are asking Canadian gun owners to voluntarily disclose if they have said firearms and then voluntarily surrender them for the promise of compensation. I’m sure some gentleman who do everything to the letter of the law will comply I’m sure some gentleman will feel that the government shouldn’t be allowed to take property away from them they legally obtained and will quietly make their pieces disappear waiting for a government change and a repeal I’m equally sure some are trading on the black market for no other reason than the government arbitrarily changed a law to make them illegal so to summarize @deewayne2003 its a clusterfuck

Walking around SCI I spotted a booth of very nice gentlemen offering Mule Deer hunts in Sonora Mexico. Very polite and friendly folks to talk to, but Tina wasn't having any of it for the exact reasons you stated. After the events of the last few days, I think discretion would lead me to another outfitter.

Much of what you say is true. I don’t agree with this, but nor do I want a criminal record. Two of my kids live there and I like to visit from time to time.

I remember years ago being in Victoria BC and walking into a shop and was surprised to see a SxS 12ga with 14" barrels; I asked the shop keeper about it because in the USA under 18" shotguns are NFA items that have to be registered.

"Well if it came from the factory like that it's legal here in Canada..... at least for now eh! Same thing for these(pointing at an SKS); 10 round fixed top loading magazine but the idiots it Ottawa will get around to them too!"

They haven’t gotten the sks and it could be the hill they die on if they did, they’re popular with the natives and the liberals won’t cross the tribes.

Funny the store owner said the same thing about the SKS & natives.

Although some months back I saw an Albertan politician speaking about how the SKS was on a list of proposed weapons and speaking about native popularity of it; she was upset about it being included on a list of weapons...... maybe they took it off for that very reason.

I really hate to hear things like that--I have to attend a destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta this Oct.

Medellin Columbia used to be one of the most dangerous cities in the world, until they took down Pablo Escobar. Places in Mexico are becoming just as bad.
Mexico just needs to exterminate the Cartel soldiers. Taking out the drug lords accomplishes little in the grand scheme of things. The second in command will take over, and it's business as usual
A bunch of individuals from a Canadian mining company disappeared in Mexico. They found some of the bodies.
I have zero interest in traveling to mainland Mexico.

Agreed! A B-52 is an easy target unless we have established air superiority. The B-52 no longer has a tail gunner, not that it was very effective (two shoot downs by tail gunners recorded during Vietnam). One thing that was a game changer for the B-52 was air launched cruise missiles. The "Stand Off" capability allows the B-52 to be several hundred miles from the intended target. Quite different and safer than dropping bombs while flying over the target.

This is an interesting video, showing the Day 1 air campaign of Desert Storm. Hard to believe that was 25 years ago. If we move against Iran in the coming days or weeks, it might look similar. However, Desert Storm was very much a coalition and the potential Iran action is not. Six carrier battle groups participated in Desert Storm and now we have two CBG for Iran.

35 years ago - even harder to believe. What is even worse is that I am old enough to have been a lieutenant colonel during that campaign. :oops:

Netflix will do the blockbuster to carry us over until 2072 ;)

My wife kidnapped me from work on that Friday afternoon for a romantic weekend away. Other than a couple of meals and some ice skating, most of that time was spent in bed watching the news reports flow in from the war. Who knows. Perhaps we watched a younger Red Leg commanding an artillery barrage on the Republican Guards.
