I think you are pretty much right on all of that.

But I don't think you can discount the role of a healthy economy, and good job and educational opportunities being critical to long term crime reduction. If you look at say, drug use and associated crime amongst formerly stable populations in the rust belt, you see those problems getting much worse as economic conditions worsened.

I also think that "victim culture" is a road to tragedy for everybody. It is self defeating and creates entitlement mindsets. But that problem is longer just a problem of the left. The MAGA movement dons the sacred mantle of "victimhood" just as much as The Squad, just for different people. It is a destructive political tool no matter who wields it.

Despite current dislike for "neocons" I mourn the loss of Reagan-Thatcher conservatism with a strong intellectual foundation built by people like George Will.

Many inner city youth don’t look for jobs and go straight into crime. And don’t even try to tell us that there are no jobs. That’s BS.

I wish I could say that a raid on boltons house surprises me... but it doesnt surprise me in the least.. .

like or hate bolton.. support him or think he is a buffoon... doesnt really matter... he has very purposefully put himself in the crosshairs of not only Trump, but of MANY of Trumps cabinet members.. on numerous occasions... and frankly on many of those occasions he really had no reason for doing it other than he simply hates the team thats in charge at the moment..

bolton is also well known in DC circles for a having a whole lot of swagger.. and not much available to back it up..

Ive thought since November that it was only a matter of time before Bolton found himself on unstable ground that he really was going to regret standing on..

Bolton doesn’t seem to be a guy with very many friends on either side of the isle. I am trying to figure out how/why Ben Whitties and George Conway got tipped off before the raid. Kind of strange.

Leticia James, Adam Schiff and the Fed Board member all seem dead to rights regarding mortgage fraud. I have a feeling there are a lot of people who could be caught up declaring secondary homes as primary residences and committing mortgage fraud if this line of investigation continues. Especially in Congress.

In my opinion, based on having been around him a few times when he was the US Ambassador to the UN.. hes got a reputation for always thinking and acting like he's the smartest guy in the room and treating others (many of whom that have more power and influence than he does) like they are stupid.. and also for very regularly being something of an intentional asshole in formal meetings, when the asshole approach really isnt necessary..

Even at times when he might be "right" on an issue, its pretty rare that he makes friends when arguing his "correct" position...

Hasn’t it been that way since the beginning of time though? Look at how the “white” gangs all operated and recruited. When everyone surrounding you is either fighting to scrape by, or flashing easy money around, it’s not hard to understand why a kid makes the decisions he makes. This is as true for downtown Chicago as it is for the meth/oxy hills of Kentucky.

I like John Bolton and read his book, “The room where it happened.” In reading that book, it’s fairly obvious that Bolton must be the type of guy that takes copious notes while he is in meetings or on phone calls. The book literally recounts in extreme detail, a chronology of every single event during Bolton’s tenure as NSA. From what I understand, personal notes from classified briefing are problematic.

that was literally the first phrase uttered by my undergraduate statistics professor on the first day of class lol..

he spent the entire semester proving to us how you can manipulate statistics in manners that most people wont ever see or realize, to give you any solution set or data point that you desire...

Bolton, as a teenager, worked for the Barry Goldwater campaign. Like him or hate him, Bolton has been extremely consistent, albeit extremely hawkish too, for his entire life.

The richest man I know swept floors for Binswanger Glass in Dallas, then after he was trained to bid jobs, went out on his own. He owns Dalrock Glass--I dare you to look up their business success. He was dyslexic and worked his way up from the bottom. Great guy and strong Christian. End of story.

If you want to cry for the downtrodden, find a real one first--I have had enough crying for the theoretical victim. Until then you have chosen the wrong shoulder to cry on. And in my work, I see it ALL.

I’m not crying for anyone, all I’m saying is if a kids surrounded by bad decisions, chances are he’s going to make them as well. Success breeds success. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule working both ways, but for the most part it rings true.

Another one that I’m surprised took so long… Kruse was not just a Biden appointee to the position, he was pretty well known for taking a strong position on DEI initiatives and other things that the current administration obviously stand strongly against..

The one I am a bit surprised by today is removing Vice Adm Lacore from her position.. I served on a board of directors for a fairly substantial veterans focused non profit when she was an O6 in the naval reserve… while it was pretty obvious even back then that she was more on the blue side of most things than the red, my impression of her back then was that she was smart, dedicated, and focused, and pretty damn good at her job…

It actually is hard to understand. What about seeing the eventual result of such decisions all around you and ignoring it? Insanity is repeating the same mistakes over and over again and expecting different results.

I’m pretty up to speed as my entire extended family lives in Ontario. It was such a great place growing up on the farm there. We all hunted, we had an indoor rifle range in our high school, my first deer rifle was delivered by the mailman. You may feel that Ford is doing a reasonable job, but he’s not clawing back your lost liberties. The Ontario I grew up in no longer exists.

Anyway, the point being, while I wouldn’t say we’re friends or even know each other well… I did have the opportunity several years ago to work alongside of her on a few things and got a decent opportunity to judge her value to an organization.. she’s the one of the three released today that I didn’t see coming… she’s not exactly a low profile personality… but I honestly can’t see SECDEF having a whole lot of intentional visibility into the 2 star that runs the Navy Reserve… I’m guessing she was on someone higher then her, but lower than SECDEF’s hit list… and her number came up via some senior 4 star or very senior SES that has SECDEF or Deputy SECDEF’s ear…

Nobody is giving up rights by having the National guard on hand. I imagine the average (Normal) citizenry would be glad to have that extra layer of protection.
It's not like they are a bunch of KGB going door to door and pulling people out of their homes.
Outside of D.C, or protecting federal resources, i dont think Trump has the authority to send in the troops willy nilly to blue cities, except in the event of a national emergency?
I personally don't have a problem with anything that makes my community safer. Hell, I'll even buy them a coffee.

The real question, and serious issue, in all of this, is why do democrats embrace crime and lawlessness so much, and protect criminals?
