on a lighter note...

Has anyone ever seen the episode of myth busters where they tested this. Allegedly some man tried this on his pickup, then got shot in private parts and wrecked.

If you noticed, the bullet stayed in place and the case ruptured. Same if you throw a loaded cartridge into a fire, the case will rupture while the bullet will stay close to the same location where it was in the fire. It does this because the bullet is heaver than the case and stays relative in the same location as to what the case does, it may move some but not much.

That is true, especially with small ammo held in place. But if some idiot chucks a 375 H&H into a fire pit I happen to be sitting by, I will not be hanging around to document the redundancy of the theory. ;)
If a bigger cartridge blows out on the other side of the case from my position, there’s a good chance I’ll be wearing it…and it might just be a little warm.

I don't even hang around when they throw a 22 Lr into a fire. Flying brass isn't my idea of a fun time

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
