on a lighter note...

You are right Bob. Jack O pushed it down my throat. Got one when I was 14. 52 yrs later and 300 plus critters and not one lost. Not a tomato stake!
@Graham Hunter
Sadly I admit I owned a 270 and shot the grand total of one sambar deer. Yes it was a one shot kill but it wasn't doing anything my 25 wouldn't do better.
The best things that happened to that 270 is it got rebarreled to the grand 35 Whelen.
Problem is I can't even give that virtually new barrel away,, no one wants it.
Bob

My Remington 700 started life as a 270, but has been rebarreled to 35 Whelen many years ago.
I have another 700 that started life as a 243 growing into a 308, and is now at the gunsmith being rebarreled to 358 win. So there is still hope for those guys
@TinKen
A man with exceptional taste, class and intelligent to go with it.
To have a rifle in the MIGHTY WHELEN and the short action non belted Whelen (aka 358) is the epitome of good taste for cartridges that don't need all the advertising hyped up bullshit. They just get the job done no fuss no bother, just like their owners.
Bob

243 people aren't annoying, they're just to be pitied.
@sgt_zim
And educated.
Unfortunately Winchester lied to people with it being a great dual purpose cartridge and pie in the sky velocities. They even had to revise their velocities DOWN when they were caught out.
Unfortunately the 243 is neither fish nor fowl. To big for small game and not quite enough for medium big game.
The fast 25s on the other hand are definitely far to big for small game but ideal for medium to big game and don't pretend otherwise.
Bob

Let me see if I have this right...

7x57 (good)
.284, 140 gr at approx 2800

.270 (bad)
.277, 130 gr at approx 2850

Seems logical to me........
I never said it was bad, just not practically better than anything else.

So basically, you're telling me I can have a larger, heavier bullet and only give up 50 fps? Sold.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
