Can't remember the exact year, but 45-50 years ago Texaco drilled a well in South Louisiana and drilled into a massive salt mine. Drained the lake! History Channel did a show on it. Texaco got the blame but after a full investigation, the survey data on the salt mine was in error and the real root cause.

That was Lake Peignuir near Jefferson Island Louisiana. Late 80s. They drilled into the Jefferson Island salt mine. Luckily the mine was shut down. The story is titled the day Lake Peignuir was drained i think.

The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
