Here is some ideas of what can be done with unused leather from your hunt. The following are example of work done in Grahamstown. Perhaps you guys in the states can get a leathersmith to do something similar. All the hides are veg tanned. It a great way of making your hunt in Africa last forever!

Very nice looking work

Wow, I really like that cartridge belt!

I keep coming back to this idea and having things made from the skins. All of your items are awesome. If I am successful I will have an eland hide. Do you know how much skin is needed for these items? I also saw a nifty rifle strap with the pelt (if that is the term) inlaid in the leather. Does anyone know how much is needed if I wanted to have a jacket made? Any leads on artisans would be appreciated.

Hi Pheroze

My guess would be that you could make a few jackets out of an eland hide. I don't know of anyone that makes jackets but gun belts, cartridge holders ect I would contact Andrew Wolff of Alpha Belts +27828201947 or alphabelts@gmail.com

Terrific, thanks.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
