Never buy anything from Optics Planet!

I would hate to be on the customer service side of shipping at this time of year.

Odds are that every time that your phone starts to ring you just know that the person on the other end is going to come after you like you personally are the problem why they haven't received their shipment that they ordered two days before.

But one thing that I learned when I asked for next day delivery once. You order on Monday, they fulfill the order on Tuesday and at best it heads to the shipper Tuesday night but more likely Wednesday morning where it stays in the truck until Wednesday night before it gets to their warehouse. All day Thursday it is moving or just sitting in a truck, at the very best you get your shipment on Friday. But none of this takes into account the weather, traffic, or a dozen different delays.

I worked at Opticsplanet for quite some time. Yes, they drop ship, but also have a large warehouse that picks and packs.

Overall, yes, it is the time of year. It takes 2 weeks to catch up from black Friday and cyber Monday let alone the holiday sales/gifts.

On top of this, the shipping services have planes grounded and are pressed to the limits already.

And yes, there are hundreds if not thousands of calls daily at this time of year that come in for order updates, order changes, placing orders, customer service, etc. I can fully understand that a CS rep saw that this shipped, there is active tracking, and its then chalked upto needing to wait for the shippers timing.

We are a society of "I want it now" as we got spoiled with 2 day Amazon delivery let alone same day delivery. Im sure there are places that will deliver the same item faster, for a price. I routinely choose whom to order from based on ship times and select services that meet my needs but will inevitably still be at the mercy of the shipping giants especially during the black hole of BF-Xmas.

‘‘Tis the season. Ordered golf clubs from Wilson. UPS showed package in LA on 12/4 to be delivered 12/10. The package didn’t move for 4 days. Magically, arrived Jacksonville at 11 pm 12/8, to Brooksville 2 am 12/9, on truck for delivery at 4 am and arrived this afternoon a day earlier than promised. Still can’t figure out why it sat in LA for 4 days

I find it interesting that the delivery person from line haul to p&d last mile are the most under rated ppl in the world. We have everything shipped and delivered now a days to our homes from medication ,luxury items to meals… We tip everyone in any service based industry but the delivery driver at your house every day. But quick to complain when you don’t receive item in what we think is a timely manner. Think of the logistics to get a box from A to B. Yeah i have a ton of skin in this game so i know the logistics. And yes please keep buying online it feeds alot of families in my business.

amazing how fast some people will try and ruin someones business....

Hate to hear that..

Ive only bought a few things from Optics Planet over the years.. I tend to watch EuroOptic for sales, or buy direct from the manufacturers using guidefitter or a VIP program, etc.. but the few times I have bought from them the have shipped quickly, packaged well, etc...

Im guessing the Christmas sales are backlogging their shipping department? I know USPS is particularly bad right now.. I ordered a clamp head for one of my tripods on November 24th. The vendor shipped it the next morning. It arrived at the USPS facility in Coppell, TX on Nov 29th (which was slow.. it was being shipped from central texas to north texas.. but.. ok...).... Its now Dec 9th.. I just got an email from USPS saying that the package will be delivered this afternoon.. It just sat in Coppell for more than a week before they could move it across Dallas to another suburb less than 15 miles away..

USPS always sucks.. but they especially suck right now..

So… doubling down on how bad USPS sucks…

I now know why my package sat in Coppell for 10 days…

This is what was delivered today…

A crushed box, ripped in half, wrapped in cellophane…

Open it up, and this is inside…

USPS sucks…

The same day I made the order from Optics Planet, I ordered Talley scope rings from EuroOptics and they arrived last Thursday!

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
