For my DGR, I shoot a Heym 89 500 Nitro Express. For many years, I used Trail Boss powder w/ 300gr lead bullets for my low recoil practice loads. I would practice loading, firing and reloading between 50 to 100 rounds per session to gain muscle memory for under-pressure, fast reloads in case matters went south quickly on a real hunt....and that repeated practice has paid off on two of my DG hunts. Now, alas, I find myself out of Trail Boss powder, which is not made any more, and looking for a new recipe so I can continue my practice regimen. I located some Barnes Original 300gr .510 bullets so I will use those projectiles for the foreseeable future.

I have tried multiple internet searches for 500NE low recoil practice rounds but have had little success. Does anyone have suggestions or load data for the 500NE low recoil practice rounds? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried Vihtavuori N32C?
I’ve been using it to fire form some 30,06 cases to 7x57 with good results.
Not quite as bulky as Trail Boss but seems to fill the case fine for the reduced loads. No chance of a double load. Not sure for the 500 though, but maybe worth looking into.

Trailboss is still made. It was instock on Hodgdons website earlier this month. Check some vendors for stock

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. 956 206 4444 in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
