My new AHR 505 Gibbs

Recoils more than a 500 Jeff ideal weight is 10 5 to 11.5 lbs so you about centre....
Great caliber enjoy....

Boy, I would've shot for about 14 lbs or so myself, would love to see a video of you shooting it to see how she runs, looks great.

I don't reload or I'd love to do the same with my CZ 458 lott, 505 Gibbs is an interesting gal, the 570gr A frame at 2500 fps or so would be interesting.

Would also be interesting to create a mold in something like a 750gr wide flat nose hardcast and see how fast she'd push it, given it's noted as having far too much case capacity that bullet should help.

Be interesting to see how much speed you could get, 2100... maybe?

Anyways, this caliber always brings out the need to ramble in me, congrats on the rifle.

It'll be fine, my CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery weighs 11 lbs without rings and scope and just over 12 lbs with it. Just be judicious off the bench, offhand it will be a hoot!

Congradulations. Is AHR still working on guns ?

He's still doing work but I don't know what the requirements are for him to agree to do it. I'm a repeat customer and Wayne wasn't interested in taking another order. I was willing to wait and initially he said he'd put me on the list but a few months later he said he wasn't taking any more orders. That was about this time last year. I'm pretty disappointed because I love the work he's done for me so far. I had one rifle upgraded and one custom built from the ground up. I pretty sure I wasn't one of 'those' customers either. I paid my deposit and patiently waited. I did make one minor change on the custom rifle after I ordered it but it was way before the rifle was nearing completion. I'm assuming he's just really busy and focused on the higher end of his business. Can't blame a man for that.

@RobBrown505 , congrats on your new rifle. Absolutely gorgeous!

Congrats and welcome to the 505 club! I’m using 570 grain Swifts in both A-frame and Break away solids. So far I’m loving these loads as they have proven to be excellent.

congratulations , it looks fantastic

I am a big fan of CEB Bullets and filed in my rear sight using CEB's 525gr Solid at 2300fps. Take a look at the Woodleigh Manual, for the 525gr Bullet the powder charges range from 105grs of RL 15 to 153grs of MRP. If you use a recoil calculator that is a difference of 25flbs at the shoulder which is considerable and also more time spent in recoil. I chose to load with RL 15 and a Foam filler and I am very happy with the results.
The Woodleigh Manual by far has the most load data for the 505 Gibbs published
Thanks, I’ll have to pick up a copy of the Woodleigh manual.

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
