After humming and hawing over buying a double, I decided to put alittle money into my old .375H&H Sako magnum Mauser to keep me happy and my mind off spending more money.

A local gunsmith installed a lovely red recoil pad, they scream safari and adventure to me, he had the rifle apart. The wood was cracked near the trigger inside and he did a cross bolt and glassed it for strength. He stripped and sanded and redid the finish.

And doing so, it reveiled a beautiful grain pattern inside the stock. We also figured warne bases would still allow use of the iron sights. I mounted a beauty leupold 2.5-8x36mm on QD rings.

Absolutely love the feel and look of this rifle. Need to find a buff hunt now in one of the wilder countries

That looks great! I also love red recoil pads, the look extra sporty to me if that makes sense. I believe Sako has a red pad as standard on some of their rifles right now.

Enjoy it!

It looks Africa ready!

It's a Dandy

Very nice! Time to take it buff hunting!

Great idea and lovely rifle!

Thanks guys! Though I dream of a .404 Jeffrey someday been having a hard time finding one or my options up here in Canada. I'd love to bring in a cz 550 from the states maybe.

Yep like mentioned, I wanna bring this buff hunting!

Handsome 375!

Very nice gun. I really like it and of course the scope is great too!

I agree on the red recoil pads. Even had one fitted on my black CZ aramid stock on my 375!

Beautiful! It's always great to see an old favorite brought back to life.

I see you have had extra length added to the stock and the pitch made more positive. A nice effect taken all round.

Yes that was actually done by the original owner, he bought it in the early 1960s. Quite the story that goes along with the gun. I bought it off him maybe 6-7 years ago atleast.

He had lead added in the stock and it's just a nice weight. It's a dream to shoot because of it too.

Thanks for this last picture. It provides a good example for my planned stock extension.

Very nice!!! How does she shoot?? Any range report???

I'll be going to range soon as we have a trip up north in September. Elk and moose.

Last time I took it to the range 3-4 years ago it was an absolute tack driver with plain jane federal ammo.

I have some Norma ammo now too and lots of cape shock 300gr and 270gr

Once I move into our new house I'll have a good reloaded bench and room to start doing my own.

I read an older thread that mentioned you having some 9.3x64 brass. Do you still have some? I am looking for 100 pcs, maybe 200.
