Has anyone use the bolt mounted McLaughlin Metalworks sight? Debating contacting them for sights for my pre-64 375 Model 70 that currently does not have sights and a new production Model 70 that’s being converted to 400 H&H. It looks like I would want to open up the aperture to make it more of a quick backup sight but didn’t know how good it would be mounted to the rear of the bolt. It shows that this was a site type used on some of the Rigby’s but wanted to know any thoughts as a good site for a dangerous game rifle.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jaye

I had John McLaughlin install one of his "Plains Game" versions on the bolt of a BRNO VZ 24. It works just fine. John currently makes these sights for Rigby. If it's good enough for them, I figure it's good enough for me.

Thanks for the info. I did like the looks of it along with the longer sight plane vs putting a rear sight on the barrel

Do you have a link for him, I've been looking for one for a Manlicher schonauer

As a follow up to my earlier post, I need to add that you MAY need to get a taller front sight. I got mine from Brownells.

John has been making/seling these for a while. Rigby orders from him. He is a. Good metal smith and has done good work for me on several rifles.

Boone66, what caliber is your MS? My BRNO is an 8 X 57 which IMHO is limited to PG and Deer sized animals. That helped me decide on his PG version.

@Boone66
Went thru this to have the peep, folding rear sight
And front sight line up on the same sight line.
Measure the height of your front sight bead center to the boreline and measure your bolt diameter (the peep boreline is 1/2 the bolt dia. added to the height ranges specified by McLaughlin for each model.

9x56ms, does good on deer, bear and elk.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!
