Any of the Mauser guys here have an opinion on the M77 model?

Know it's no M98 but was it any good? Collectible? Price on one now?

Cheers

Very nice rifles - something of Mauser's response to the Steyr rear locking actions. Those I have seen had very European stocks (which I like) with longish thin forearms and beautiful charcoal bluing. The Steyr designs seemed to have pretty much owned that already small market segment, and Mauser went on to other experiments. There was a higher end version called, I believe, the model 86. I have only seen one of these. The 77 is a rare bird in this country. A quick look at the usual suspect sites didn't turn up one. Blue Book lists value of a standard caliber rifle in 90 - 95% condition at around $1000. Should you find one in that price range, it would be a terrific value. They were a premium rifle when released that simply never caught on in the States - can't speak for the RSA.

Thanks for info and bluebook value!

There is a 300wm in very nice condition here but going for about $2000.

Looks to be a very nice rifle.

There is a mod 66 as well but that just looks to weird for my taste.

If it is equipped with good scope mounts then add that to the price. Also realize that is a US price in a country where few ever sold, and has nothing to do with the rifle's actual "value" or quality. These were extremely well made guns.

Once again, learning something new! Never heard of a model 77 Mauser until now!

True. Dint think there are many over here either.

Got eaw removable mounts.

Might just put a offer in on it.

Thanks again for info.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
