Has anyone here been successful attempting an Macnab in Scotland?
Where would you recommend?
Thanks

Within our Carruthers club led by our very own @Kevin Peacocke we have built our own version as follows:
1. Scotland Stag
2. Scotland Grouss or Partridge
3. Cape Buffalo Africa
4. Tiger Fish Africa
We know the true McNab is all about Scotland only species all taken in just one day but we enjoy and love ours and since ours take place on different continents we do not place a time period to accomplish

They responded to my inquiry already.
They rent these Scottish makers: Dickson, McKririck, Martin and Alex Henry and Mortimer

I dream of a Scotland trip with my brother and father. But the idea of a true Macnab doesn't appeal if rushed, to quote Hemingway in green hills

"But it is not pleasant to have a time limit by which you must get your kudu or perhaps never get it, nor even see one. It is not the way hunting should be.......The way to hunt is for as long as you live against as long as there is such and such an animal"

I would absolutely love to go for a week, and break up the hunts over the days. Rough bird shooting. Red stag. Fishing. Maybe a sika in the forest.

A weeklong Macnab is what I'll set out to do.
I'd do in a day but would hate to feel the pressure, I've done it enough at home for yearly hunts to know it isn't for me.

Saying that. I did so a Zambezi Macnab of buff. Tiger and Guinea. And love it

I have done all three but not on the same day. As mentioned above, the salmon will be the challenge. Land a salmon early in the day and it shouldn’t be too tough to add a brace of grouse and a stag.

For what it’s worth, the grouse would be the highlight of the three for me.

One of our members whilst fulfilling the Scottish portion of the line-up achieved a Scottish Macnab whilst he was about it, so he was awarded his Carruthers Tie with crossed swords, ala in the Scottish dance.

Love the whole idea. I read the McNab book some years ago, and highly recommend to anyone interested in a fun story, and hunting literature. A friend visits the Fife Arms each year in Scotland, and I'm half tempted to go with him - he is not a hunter, and anti gun guy but I forgive him for his stilted views - and try the McNab, traditional, and then head to Africa for the Carruthers.

Hey guys, this is Sean from Delaney & Sons (my ears were tingling). Happy to answer any questions about our MacNab program, or the MacNab in general. We are running four weeks’ of MacNabs this year at three different Highland estates. We are pretty much booked through 2028, but we had a recent cancellation and are offering the spot at a discount if anyone is interested!

Best, Sean

I just spoke with you :30 ago on a 2027 trip.

The reduced price hunt is tempting. But my fall is pretty full already.
