luggage type

I would only take locked luggage through JNB and actually anywhere these days. I have a good friend who retired from working at the Denver International Airport and you wouldn’t believe the stories he relayed about theft even in the USA.
The only loss I've personally had was in a US airport--Detroit. It would have to be a comfort to have luggage plastic wrapped in Africa as only they can overdo it.

Standard duffels are not allowed through JNB. Sorry but it’s a rule regardless of what you hear. I recommend a standard hard side suitcase or if you travel to hunt a lot then go with the Pelican suitcase like some of us are using now.

I can't recall a time where guns delayed me 2-4 hours in customs on the US side.
I’ve never spent 2 hours. At DFW it’s 10m max, ATL one hour.

I use lockable duffles on all trips. If you go through a "bad" airport, nearly any bag can be breached.
Use a meet and greet service as well as an escort through customs and gun check in. That is worth the price.

Luggage theft is a big deal. It happens. What I have done is carry optics and cameras in my carryon. I pack everything else that is valuable in the gun case (for me a Tuffpak). I only pack clothes (no electronics) in rolling duffles. Ammo does not get stolen if you pack it in a locked pelican case.

Further idea (and I know people do not like it), use camp guns. I do this most of the time now to lessen the overall travel cost and speed up the airport issues. When returning to the US, guns delay you at least 2-4hrs in customs.
A locked Pelican is pretty tough to break in!

Wifey ordered this for my trip to Limpopo. It's very, very durable. I would say Bombproof, but JoBurg is JoBurg! Definitely worth checking it out! 20260408_181856.jpg

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.
