luggage type

Just to confirm , the yellow pelican is what your carrying ammo in?
I like the idea of that size pelican as I have the same one and easier to not loose it like those tiny ones.
Ammo, my small tool bag - which carry’s a couple tools: Leatherman, scope tools, extra batteries, headlamp, small flashlight, small gerber lock blade, couple small tubes of gorilla glue, optics brush and wiper, I put my bino case in there too -which has items stuffed in it as well and it doubles as a small day pack. I usually leave it in the truck unless we are out on a significant stalk then I’ll bring it along with my RF Binos. I put my slings in there and a couple other things that I don’t want to carry on.

I have several size Pelican cases including some that have been mentioned. I actually sold two Pelican cases on AH recently because I wasn’t using them… I still prefer to pack lighter and not check essential items or items that I could not due without. A standard carry on and my backpack bring everything I need without impacting my hunt.

I’ve seen firsthand what happens to hunters when a checked bag with gear is lost or delayed -It’s not good! My rifle is insured and I can rent a rifle. My clothes -including boots, spare prescription glasses, and medicine travel with me at all times.

** I bring my RF Binos in my backpack on the plane. I do not check them with my ammo.

I’ve had that pelican case for 30 years and find it to be the perfect size for me.

Pelican for everything. We travel several times a year and these have stood up to incredible abuse. Plus they make a nice seat when nothing else is available.

1560 Protector for checked bags (his & her’s)
1510 Protector and 1535 Air for carry-on
1200 Protector for ammo
1700 Protector for firearms

We also use some inexpensive cubes inside the checked bag to keep things organized. They work well, but are coming apart after not much use. Going to be upgrading to something better.

Now for you guys who are flying into Johannesburg and then driving to and not flying , are you packing your ammo inside a locked case inside of a checked bag?
Or are you just putting the ammo in a checked bag that is locked?

Always in a locked hard case inside the checked bag. Never know when plans change or an airline attendant wants to do something different.

All luggage gets locked.

Rifle and ammo with non-TSA locks, checked bags with TSA locks...every time...no matter where you are flying....every time. Make the next persons luggage easier for them to get into than yours.

I will be looking for a set of these when my .505 is done... sadly not cashed up right now for these. :(
Need anything in trade?
Cheers,

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
