These came in 2 specifications; a .032 jacket thickness and a .049 jacket thickness. I would like to find some of both, if possible.

Barnes stopped making them in 1981. I used the 0.49 inch jacket thickness FMJ solid in a .458 Winchester Magnum to take a hippo on land in 1980. In my humble experience, the "solids" left a great deal to be desired. They were made by pinching copper tubing around a lead core and then cutting off the tubing at the ends of the bullet. This left a small pin hole in the frontal & rear of the bullet base. When fired into elephant bones (particularly for frontal brain shots) or Cape buffalo bones (particularly the shoulder bone), the bullets were prone to extreme distortion which impacted penetration. The lead core used to get squeezed out of the back, through the pin hole.

I have access to some. If you are still interested in them, then I can arrange for you to buy them. Are you USA based ?

Thanks for your reply. I saw your earlier topic on this bullet. I wasn't thinking of them as optimal, as there are better bullets, but I would still like to have some to do some testing with. It was early technology, which has changed a lot but it's interesting to see the progression in technology. I'm in the States.

Okay, I'm contacting my friend who has them. I will arrange for you both to correspond.

Fantastic. Thank you!

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
