Cheetah running down the road in BC and now a Lion out in Ontario.

Reading some of the coverage on this story was interesting to see some reporting the lion had been "executed", "shot", "put down", etc.

At least hunters were not blamed, Yet!

All file pictures not one of this not so famous Lion.

A zoo owner shot and killed a male lion that had escaped from its enclosure at a small private zoo near Wendover Sunday afternoon.

Officers from Hawkesbury OPP rushed to the scene and found the African lion walking near the entrance of Papanack Park Zoo, an unfenced area. There was no way to contain the animal, police say, and the zoo owner was forced to shoot it around 5 p.m., a little more than an hour after police were called.

damn I would have offered my services. good thing it was the owner shooting no telling how many buildings, other animals or people would have been hit if it were the Ontario Political Police, AKA Wynne's personal police force

I am surprised they didn't try and tranquilize him. ( may be they were scared ) . Forrest

I would have driven the 6 hours (speeding of course !) up the road to help ! LOL !

Agreed Forrest, strange that a zoo doesnt have some form of a tranquilizer, especially when dealing with larger predatory animals

The report I read indicated that the owner was not willing to risk public safety with a tranquilizer. The concern that it would take too long to kick in.

Tranks are administered by a licensed Vet because the drugs are controlled substances and dosing critical

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?
