I don't see Leica mentioned much hereabouts. Anyone have experience with them?

I picked up a discontinued (I think) ER 2.5-10x 42 a year or two back from Europtic. Mounted it on a Sako AV .375 H&H, but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

Are these new ER 5 scopes any good? I know Leica makes some of the best glass in the world, but haven't heard much about how well their scopes hold up.

I have no experience with them but if you do a search on Leica on this site you'll see that while their product may be good, their customer service seems to be lacking.

A friend had the same thing to say about them. Glass very good but service hard to come by.

Great glass, can be iffy customer service. Swaro great glass great service, Schmidt & bender best glass good customer service. have all 3 brands and experience with customer service all 3.

Have several which I have used extensively - great product. Have never had to use their customer service.

I picked up a ER 5 4-20x50 a few weeks ago and mounted it on my 300wm. So far I've been extremely happy with it.

I have 4 Leica Scopes, Three of the 2.5-10x42, one of which is mounted on top of my SAKO 375. Very clear and bright. So far it took lots of bangs and still works. These are excellent scopes.

I've had them on order for YEARS. My assumption is that they are so-so.

The value proposition that is/was unique. The 1-5x straight tube and the 2-8x33 light weight scope. Both at around $749.

Everything else is unremarkable/same/no difference than all the other options. Is the world really short on supply of 2-10x42mm scopes?

Now the irony:

The two scopes that are unique have been backordereed three years.

They increased price on these fictional scopes.

They are going to be made in USA so it's not Leica German product.

My solution: just buy the swaro and be done with it. You can't trust leica as they lack integrity, doing what they say. You can't trust them to deliver product or honor quoted prices.

Leica would be last on my list of optics to purchase. There are equally good or better products by companies who support their products and customers a whole lot better than Leica does.

Phillip I was reviewing some of the auctions online and saw your Nubian Ibex hunt coming up this weekend. It also showed you have Addax and Axis deer. Is there a website I can go to and see the lodge, cost of animals and what is available? Thanks Mark

I really like that knife you're selling. It looks so similar to my original 1306 that has been around a long time. I can't spend that much but if you get to a point where you'd entertain offers let me know. Thx, James
