A friend of my dad who used to deal in British cars said once of Lucas parts, a common supplier of electrics to UK cars, "Lucas, the Prince of Darkness"!

I once owned a '67 109 Safari Wagon with 6 cyl motor. Coolest 4x4 I have owned, but it was a shop car and I had to sell it. I sure did like driving it around though, just plain fun. In fairness the previous owners had thought it to be indestructible and never thought to get anything fixed. Idiots.

There was a series one Landrover on the farm where I grew up and it was what I learned to drive in. Wonderfull old vehicles and really opened up country that had never been traversed before by vehicle for many areas. They helped to bring the NZ back country under productive use and have proved a very serviceable vehicle when the maintainence was kept up to them, like many of the contemporary required. The Landcruiser has eclipsed their reliability and versatility today but they were the pioneers in hard lands.

Some of the South Island high country stations are still quite keen on Land Rovers because all-coil suspension lasts a lot longer where they have to do a lot of river and stream crossings. All that fine gravel gets caught between the leaf springs and grinds them down. If Nissan NZ had bothered to import the coil spring cab chassis Patrol they would have made a killing here.

And ... Yes, I did learn to drive off-road in Series III V8 Landrovers that were painted green! They are also a heck of a lot easier to clean out than a Landcruiser or similar. Just park on a slope and hose out.

But I thought that land-rovers were the best??? :A Stirring:

there is a live chat facility at the top right of the page.....why dont you ask them?.....:E Devious:

No time, have to get to work, but I'm diggin' the plaid interior! :sneaky:

You know what old man Lucas said to son on his death bed, don't drive at night!!

Funny thing is here where I live the only people that drive Land Rovers are upity suburbanites. Their idea of off-roading is parking it in the grass at the kids soccer game.

@Wheels this pink thing is not a landrover. it must be from the usa ....maybe san francisco? ;)

But under the hood it says British Leyland! Driver looks like the locals between Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. Think Commodore Nelson would want his pole moved?:( Perhaps this is what happens when Eros shoots one of his arrows into a Land Rover.

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
