The fit perfectly from what I normally wear. I was hunting all day today in a pair, with temperatures from 57F to 72F. The vents rally worked well in keeping me cool.

I wear them comfortably in temperatures down to 41F without feeling the need for a base layer.

Do you work for Kuiu cause you just sold me

I’ve been wearing Kuhl pants for many years. The Ryder model stands up to brush and briars. I also wear to the office. Dress them up or down. Very functional and durable. Not as durable as Filson but more affordable.

Looking at True Werk work pants -- 3 "insulation" options.
Ordered some last summer and after 6 weeks the order got cancelled. ???? Will try again as there is a sale right now. (Not a fan of KUIU. I have one KUIU jacket. --not impressed -JMHO)

Carhart is crap and has been for a few years now , I had a pair of their double fronted pants come apart at the seems on my first Australian hunt.

I’ve stuck with Hawx pants ever since and they are great.

I miss when Filson was stiched in Seattle. That was 30 years ago and the quality is not what it was now sadly.

I have a couple pairs of the KUIU Tiburon trousers and really like them for warm weather hunting. However their resistance to briars and thorns is nearly zero. Extremely thin but I've not had any problems in non-briar country. Would NOT be a good choice for Africa IMO.

I wear the tiburion pants almost exclusively now down here in TX.. love the lightweight, breathable fabric and the fit is super comfortable.. but even the wait a minute vines down here are hell on them.. I completely agree, there’s no way I’m wearing them in the bush in Africa…

A good buddy of mine has a couple of pairs of the kuiu brush pants.. he absolutely loves them.. he’s not kind to clothes or gear at all, and he’s had no problems with them at all yet…

If you ever get to the DFW area we have both a Sitka and a Kuiu retail store here.. it’s nice to be able to see all of their different lines in all of the various patterns in one place, plus they have some “store exclusive” stuff as well..

Some guys I work with have the True Werk pants. They are durable but noisy as hell. Would not be a good choice for stalking IMO.

I wore Kuiu on a safafri to SA several years back. 7 days in the bush nothing out of the normal just the usual thorns and brush in Limpopo. The pants got absoluteley trashed, ripped, torn, holes from thorns. When I got home I sent them back to Kuiu for a warranty claim, they denied my claim saying that I abused them and they don't cover abuse. I have since switched to Badlands gear, specifically the Fortis pants. I have worn them on 3 safari's now with absolutely no sign of wear. Bonus is that they come in plain khaki and grey so you can wear them for travel without standing out in camo. Unconditional lifetime guarantee is a big bonus. To me Kuiu is over priced for the quality you get.

I had the same experience with my attack pants hunting buff in ‘24 - absolutely trashed. Shirts held up perfectly well. When at SCI last year, I mentioned the pants issue with the guys working the table. They pretty much could care less.

While not a direct answer as I have never worn the Kuiu brush pants, I have worn the Fjallraven Vidda Pro and Kebs for elk and whitetail with great results. I have also worn them working in the defense sector and could not be happier.

I bought everything I thought I needed for my last hunt from Kuiu for my last hunt. (nearly $1,000)

Everything I received was MUCH too small, (I'm 5'10 " and weigh 190 lbs.)

I am, absolutely "underwhelmed" at this point. I (maybe stupidly) have reordered everything in XL.



We'll see...

But, an Extra Large American man is at least 6" tall and weights at least 220 lbs.

@Safari Dave - I've found that if I follow the size guide for the garment, I generally don't have a problem. That said, their fit tends to be more of a European style with an athletic fit and trim waistlines. There are other companies that do this as well, KUIU isn't the only one.

I have 3 pair of the KUIU Brush Pant and absolutely love them!! Bear hunted with them all spring in Idaho and took them to South Africa this year for 19 days. They help up flawlessly in the Eastern Cape as well as KZN. The hip and crotch vents are my favorite part about them. I tend to run pretty warm and didn't layer them even though the temperatures were right around freezing in the morning. In my experience they are extremely durable and are quickly becoming my favorite pair of hunting pants

I too had a very disappointing experience with the Kuiu Attack pants

Considering how much they charge for them, I thought it was a rip off - pun fully intended as it is exactly what the pants did in the bush

That cured me from spending big bucks on all these newfangled trendy fashionable hunting clothes...

Try 5.11 pants BeeMaa, you will not be disappointed.

I have been wearing nothing else but their "Fast-Tac Urban" pants (navy, charcoal, khaki) at work for years, and yes I mean the pants will last for years, and brown to travel to Africa, where I also wear them on warm weather safaris. Ah, if only they made them in dark green! but dark brown works just fine too. Actually dark brown pants and dark green shirts break the silhouette very effectively.

When it will be cooler on Safari (Karoo in winter), I find their "Taclite Pro" pants (and shirts) about perfect.

In my experience 5.11 shirts and pants made with polyester ripstop fabric are indestructible, super comfortable, well-fitting, and reasonably priced.

I also second roverandbrew for the Fjallraven Vidda Pro. They do not deliver in my view twice the value for twice the price of the 5.11, but they certainly are good.

They were selling those same pants at Safari Outdoors in joberg when we stopped in there… they looked very sturdy… I’m guessing they are a good South Africa option if they’re being sold there..

I’m definitely a fan of 511… all I wore for years was OD green 511 pants and tan 511 shirts… the company I worked for back in the 2007 time frame issued them for “field” work.. and between all of the Afghanistan and Iraq deployments I ended up with probably a dozen sets of them (about 50% heavyweight and the other 50% rip stop)…

It took me until about 2020 to finally go through all of those “hunting” clothes…

My wife still prefers her 511’s (she’s got 2 pair of their ladies “tactical” pants in OD green) over most of her other hunting clothes for Africa..
