Earlier this year I purchased this .458 https://www.africahunting.com/threads/custom-rifle-ranch-458-win-mag.90030/ , a beautiful rifle but did not have sights which are a must for me of a rifle of this type. The front was easy, I installed the excellent and ubiquitous banded masterpiece front sight from NECG.
The rear sight I got a bit creative on. The rifle had a barrel mounted recoil lug with a flat top, a perfect place to put a sight, if I could find one that would work and look proper. I think I accomplished that. I ordered this sight from NECG :
I then drilled and tapped the flat top of the recoil lug for two 6-48 screws side by side. Drilled the rear sight with oversize holes to have a bit of windage adjustment. I really like how it turned out. Sights are zeroed at 50 yards. I then added a white triangle to rear sight to aid in quick acquisition. The white triangle is plastic cut from a plastic bread bag clip.
