I received a Press Release that Mark Hampton passed away from a heart attack on Sunday while on safari in Tanzania. This is horrible news. Mark was a great guy and was one of the most accomplished handgun hunters in the world. RIP Mark and prayers for his family.

Wow. Sorry to hear that news. I met him once at the convention. Nice guy.

What a great guy - conservation needs more like him.

Sad, best wishes for his family.
On the other hand, if I could pick a moment to pass away, being on safari is a "good" option.

It happened on the first morning of his safari in Massailand with Bushman Safari Trackers Ltd (same company I hunted with last year), according to Mike Fell.

Really sad news and keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers. Truly a driven and accomplished hunter, that has done a ton for conservation.

If there is a silver lining, he died on Safari, in a very special place (I hope to have my ashes spread in Massailand).

One of my favorite authors and the best for handgun hunting. RIP

RIP, praying he is continuing his hunt in the eternal hunting grounds.

Condolences to his family. A a former avid handgun hunter, I enjoyed reading his articles. His name is synonymous with handgun hunting. We’ve lost a treasure.

RIP. Died doing what he loved. Condolences to his family and friends.

RIP and prayers! Died doing what he and most of us love!

Sad to see. I’m not interested in handgun hunting but I always enjoyed his articles and seeing the places he went.

Sad news, but as stated above, he died doing what he loved in one of the best places on Earth. Condolences to his family.

My sincere condolences for his family and friends. I hope he did not leave us all behind at too young an age.

He died while hunting if its your time ? God let him finish where he wanted to be.

My sincere condolences for his family and friends. I hope he did not leave us all behind at too young an age.
Same thoughts saw a photo of him on FB with a Sitatunga so have no idea what age he was.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
